3 Bidders for Mumbai Metro Line-2B’s Track Contract CA-273

Paras Railtech, Apurvakriti Infrastructure (AIPL) and Rahee Infratech this week submitted bids for the second ballastless track-work contract of 23.6 km Mumbai Metro Line-2B (Yellow Line) connecting Andheri West – Bandra – Mandale.

The scope of this contract, under Package CA-273, by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) involves installing standard gauge ballastless track from Andheri West Station to ITO Station in Bandra-Kurla Complex. This 8.2 km long section will be the final section of the entire line to open up as part of Saraswat Nagar – Diamond Nagar in Chembur (Phase 3).

MMRDA had invited bids for its installation in March 2025 with a Rs. 121.83 crore estimate with an unknown deadline. Technical bids were opened were opened this Tuesday to reveal 3 bidders.

MMRDA’s Brief Scope: Design, Supply, Installation, Testing And Commissioning Of Standard Gauge Ballastless Track In Main Line From Andheri West (Excluding Station Ch: 34+035.873) To ITO Station (Including Station Ch:44+857.698) Of Line-2B of Mumbai Metro Rail Project

The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

MMRDA last week started train trial runs between Mandale – Diamond Nagar on the east-side, and this will be the first section of Line-2B to open up. From what I’ve heard, Phase 2 involves operationalizing Andheri West – Saraswat Nagar (Santa Cruz) in the western suburbs, and Phase 3 involves commissioning the missing middle and longest piece: Saraswat Nagar – BKC – Diamond Nagar.
