Sam Wins Delhi Metro Phase 5 Yuge Yugeen Bharat’s Package EC-01
Sam India Builtwell Pvt. Ltd. on Monday was declared as the lowest bidder for constructing Delhi Metro’s Yuge Yugeen Bharat Metro Station (Package EC-01) after Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) opened financial bids.
Yuge Yugeen Bharat Metro Station will be constructed as an underground station on Delhi Metro Green Line’s 9.5 km extension as part of the Delhi Metro Phase 5 project. This new underground extension will connect Indraprastha Station to Ramakrishna Ashram Station while passing through Central Delhi’s Central Vista with access to Bharat Mandapam, India Gate, Kartavya Path and Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Package EC-01 is the very first civil contract for Delhi Metro’s Phase 5A which is still on the drawing board with its various Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for separate lines awaiting approval. I didn’t get a chance to look at the tender documents carefully, but this contract might be financed by DMRC’s internal sources and/or the Delhi Government.
DMRC had invited bids for this package in June 2025 with a 630 day deadline and Rs. 206.32 crore estimate. Technical bids were opened in July to reveal 4 bidders.
EC-01’s Financial Bid Results
Firm | Bid (Rs. Crore) |
Sam India Builtwell Pvt. Ltd. | 222.76 |
Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. | 259.09 |
J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd. (JKIL) | 265.84 |
Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd. (HCC) | 286.92 |
DMRC’s Brief Scope: Design and Construction of YugeYugeen Bharat underground station along with PD Area Ancillary Building associated Entry Exits and Connecting subways under Phase V A of Delhi MRTS.
Yuge Yugeen Bharat is an upcoming museum by the Ministry of Culture which will be housed at the North and South Blocks of the Rashtrapati Bhawan complex located on Raisina Hill. The ministry is currently in the process of selecting an architect, and per the tender document they aim to create a world-class museum celebrating India’s cultural, historical, and civilizational heritage, while preserving the architectural integrity of these iconic buildings.
Since I didn’t get a chance to review the tender docs, here’s my purely indicative map showing where the station’s underground box might come up as the line connects Central Secretariat and Sansad Marg areas on either side. Since this package’s tender came out of the blue, it appears to me that the DMRC is trying to slot and sequence its construction in parallel with the museum’s work.

Sam India’s bid was 7.97% higher than DMRC’s estimate so a contract should be awarded in the coming months after local financing is in place.
Just like Phase 4, Delhi Metro’s Phase 5 will be developed in 2 sub-phases. In Phase 5A, DMRC plans to focus on constructing the following 3 Priority Corridors:
- Green Line’s West Extension: Indraprastha – Ramakrishna Ashram (9.5 km, underground)
- Golden line’s West Extension: Aerocity – Terminal 1 (2.3 km, underground)
- Golden line’s East Extension: Tughlakabad – Kalindi Kunj Corridor (4 km, elevated)
The Green Line’s extension replaces Central Vista’s Automated People Mover (APM) system which was planned as a loop or ring. Ayesa India was awarded its Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract in November 2022, and that’s how far that project progressed.
Many years ago, I created a dedicated Phase 5 information page in anticipation of this project. I’ll update it as I find time in the coming days.

Hi tmrg,
I had accessed the tender docs, it seems that it will be an extension of Magenta line, not green. Even in the press release of PM Gati Shakti NPG meeting, where the projects were reviewed, it was mentioned as extension of Magenta line.
Hi can you please share the link to the press conference if possible ?
Thankd

Thanks Dhruv 😊
The construction on inderlok to indraprastha haven’t even started yet and they gave a contract for a single metro station in the middle of the next phase? Is the museum also the station?
I think that is indeed the case, plus, they do not want heavy construction In that area later on, right now there is a lot of construction going on anyways so they want to get their work done in time
Hey TMRG,
Just a quick hat-tip and question, the link to Delhi Metro Phase 5 leads to a landing page which might need a tiny spruce up. I’m curious to read about what the Phase 5 has shaped up to be currently. 🙂
Thanks in advance.
