Bids Invited for Bangalore Metro Phase 3’s Construction Work

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) on Tuesday published their first tender notice inviting bids for the civil construction work of a portion of the 44.65 km Bangalore Metro Phase 3 project.

This exciting development to find civil contractors for 3 packages comes roughly 9 months after SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) and Assystem India (previously L&T Infrastructure Engineering) were awarded the project’s three Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contracts.

Bangalore Metro’s Phase 3 in western Bengaluru includes the construction of a new 32.15 km Orange Line (Corridor-1) connecting Kempapura – JP Nagar 4th Phase via 22 stations along the Outer Ring Road (ORR), and a new 12.5 km line (Corridor-2) connecting Kadabagare – Hosahalli via 9 stations.

A significant portion of the viaduct for both lines will be built as a double-decker structure for vehicles (level-1) and metro trains (level-2).

BMRCL is yet to upload the actual tender documents online which will gives us a better idea about the deadlines, start/end points of each package, chainage, and most-importantly the exact station locations after which I’ll prepare a Phase 3 map on the project’s information page.

Here’s a brief outline of all 3 packages on the Orange Line connecting JP Nagar and BDA Complex Nagarbhavi worth a combined estimated total of Rs. 4187.41 crore. The current bid submission deadline is February 25, 2026, and technical bid opening is scheduled on February 27, 2026. These are likely to be revised multiple times due to questions and concerns raised prior, during and after the pre-bid meeting

Package 1 (JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kamakya)

  • Length: 6.521 km
  • Estimated Cost: Rs. 1375.66 crore

This package includes 4 double decker stations between JP Nagar 4th Phase and Kamakya Junction at JP Nagar 5th Phase, JP Nagar, Kadirenahalli and Kamakya Junction, and the demolition of Dollars Colony Flyover.

Package 2 (Hosekerehalli to Nagarbhavi Circle)

  • Length: 5.408 km
  • Estimated Cost: Rs. 1396.10 crore

This package includes 4 double decker stations between Hosekerehalli to Nagarbhavi Circle at Hosakerehalli, Dwarkanagara, Mysore Road and Nagarbhavi Station

Package 3 (Vinayaka Layout to BDA Complex Nagarbhavi)

  • Length: 6.652 km
  • Estimated Cost: Rs. 1415.65 crore

This package includes 3 double decker stations at Vinayaka Layout, Papireddypalya and BDA Complex Nagarbhavi, and 1 regular station at Sundakatte (on Corridor-2), including Sundakatte Depot entry and exit line.

As I mentioned above, this is just the first tender notice for a combined total of roughly 18.58 km which leaves roughly 26 km of route still pending to enter the tendering stage across the rest of Corridor-1 (BDA Complex Nagarbhavi – Hebbal – Kempapura) and entire Corridor-2 (Kadabagare – Hosahalli). Looking at these 3 packages’ length, we should expect the rest to be divided up into 4 packages.

Long way to go and there are many variables involved, but at this time I see contractors getting assigned no sooner than Q3 2026 with basic ground-work beginning no sooner than Q4 2026.

Why is the orange line not connected to the blue line to make it a true ring line? Missed opportunity right there.

Forgot about connect blue. They couldn’t even connect yellow whith blue. It’s technically not feasible… Mostly because of lack of future proofing

But luckily pink line has a provision for accommodating red line in one of it’s station. If at all they end up building it

aren’t the orange and blue connected at Hebbal and Kempapura? same for yellow and blue being connected at Silk board. do you mean that the stations are not physically adjacent?

      Forget connection
BMRCL could not take the metro to KSR majestic and Cantt station . People have to walk minimum 1 km to reach the railway station. See chennai. Total integration

    Question
The entire stretch is High density. What plans to manage the traffic for 8 years.
Question 2. Important. If level 1 is ready can it be thrown open both sides as and when the level 1 double decker road is ready? Metro commissioning will take years. Sarakki, Delia circle, kaderenhalli and kamakya are the worst junctions

Usually metro corridor girder are installed first and then road level. So, by the time the system installation and finishing works happen on the metro level, they work on the girder launching for the road level.
So, both should be ready at around the same time if all goes well that is. If there are metro delays, road can be opened first and it is done quite often.
I think there have also been instances when metro was opened first and road was opened later because it was not ready but I can’t remember the name of the city right now 😐.
