VNC-KEC JV Wins Delhi Meerut RRTS’ Duhai Depot Contract

Vijay Nirman Company Pvt. Ltd. – KEC International Ltd. today emerged as the lowest bidder to construct the Duhai Depot and Workshop of the 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS Line after officials, besides opening Package 6 in which Afcons was the lowest bidder, also opened Package 5A’s financial bids.
Duhai Depot lies on the northern-end of 18 km priority corridor section (Sahibabad – Duhai EPE), and along with Modipuram Depot will be used to service and stable the line’s 210 coach Bombardier rolling stock. A smaller stabling yard is planned at Jangpura in Delhi where a few Bombardier train-sets will be stabled overnight for the first few morning services.
National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) invited tenders for this package in January and opened technical bids in June to reveal 6 bidders. NCRTC’s estimate is unknown at this time.

Brief Scope of Package 5A: Construction of Depot cum Workshop near Duhai RRTS Station (including Architectural Finishing, PEB, E and M and Road works) of Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut RRTS Corridor
Technical details about the depot’s stabling/workshop lines are unknown at this time.
If no issues arise during financial bid evaluation, then VNC – KEC JV will be issued a letter of award (LoA) in the coming weeks with a deadline to complete all works in 730 days (2 years).

This project was going well but the underground section seems to have stuck. If the tender is going to be scrapped, it should be scrapped asap.
