Aarvee-GSL Wins Chennai-Mysuru HSR’s LiDAR & Alignment Design
Aarvee Associates – GSL Associates JV on Friday emerged as the lowest bidder to prepare the final alignment design through an aerial LiDAR survey for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the 435 km Chennai – Bengaluru – Mysuru High Speed Rail project in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
LiDAR survey is a helicopter-based laser surveying technique for rapid and accurate collection of topographic data, and similar surveying works commenced in December for the 865 km Delhi – Varanasi High Speed Rail (DVHSR Bullet Train) corridor’s alignment.
India’s National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) invited bids for this service on January 9 with a completion period of 150 days and estimated cost of Rs. 10.20 crore. Technical bids were opened on February 1 to reveal 4 bidders.
Financial Bid Values:
Firm | Bid |
Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers Consultants Pvt. Ltd. – GSL Associates Pvt. Ltd. | 8.64 crore |
RITES Ltd. (likely in a JV with Geokno India Pvt. Ltd.) | 8.67 crore |
SECON Private Ltd. | 8.75 crore |
Monarch Surveyors and Engineering Consultants. Pvt. Ltd. | 8.97 crore |
Package: NHSRCL/CO/CA/LIDAR/2020/48
Brief Scope: Final Alignment design including Aerial LiDAR survey and other related works for Chennai-Mysore High Speed Rail Corridor
The 9 stations proposed on the Chennai – Mysuru line are planned to be built at Chennai, Poonamallee, Arakkonam, Chittor, Bangarapet, Bengaluru, Chennapatna, Mandya and Mysuru.
Prior to this Aarvee-GSL won similar LiDAR + alignment design contracts for the 886 km Delhi – Varanasi HSR line in August 2020 and the 450 km Delhi – Amritsar HSR line in January 2021.
Financial bids for the Chennai – Mysuru HSR line’s social impact assessment (SIA) works are going to be opened soon. I won’t write about it, but will update the information page’s contractor list when the winner is revealed.
In other news, NHSRCL today signed a formal contract with Larsen & Toubro – IHI Infrastructure Systems Consortium to fabricate and transport 28 steel truss bridges on the 508.17 km Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR Bullet Train) project. Financial bids for that were opened in December 2020 and a LoA was issued in January 25.

where in chennai will be the station?
Hasn’t been finalized yet. Hope it’s at Chennai Central.
Better ideally at POONAMALLE adjoining CMRL’s Metro trains Depot. Large Waste (temple) land parcel is available between bypass & 400 feet ORR.
Koyambedu is the best place
In koyambedu no place is available, already big housing projects have occupied acres of land, and if the station comes to this place will be the best suited one compared to Chennai central.
Looks like the line is almost bypassing Bengaluru, if the map is anything to go by. Hopefully the stations come up in close proximity to the metro stations.
Agreed! Yellow Line is under construction on Hosur Road as you might know, so if a HSR station is planned thereabouts, then it’ll definitely be in close proximity to a metro station.
It’s missing Vellore which is the most important station in this route (Katpadi).
They can consider a station closer to Vellore since it can help patients coming to CMC.
Chitoor is near to vellore.
This station is between vellore and chitoor (near gudipala)
This route is along with Chennai Bangalore expressway….
Why its not going via hosur or vellore.
Because the route gets longer via Vellore, Ambur and Krishnagiri.
The shorter route is parallel to the old NH4 i.e. via Chittoor, Palamaner and Kolar
Non stop Bengaluru
The Map is not aligned properly. As we know Chennai is slightly to the North of Banglore. In this map it appears to be south of Banglore.
Non stop koyambedu, Bengaluru & mysore
As a matter of fact, the stations planned r by itself more.. if we r getting a high speed train, will it stop like a passenger train – let us not try to make it a closed project., by calling for stoppages or realignment for the benefit of all !
The pricing may be little too high.
Chennai to Mysore nhsrcl via Bangalore, chittoor 😍

What is the expected completion date of final alignment design through an aerial LiDAR survey?
When will the final alignment be published for chennai-mysore HSR?
Can you please answer sir?
Aerial LiDAR work is over. Final alignment is being fixed right now. I don’t believe NHSRCL will publish it anytime soon.
The Aerial LiDAR survey(which is helicopter-based laser survey) happened today in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
Why there is no any update on Chennai-Mysore HSR for last 7 months? Can you please update on the status?
