Bids Invited for Surat Metro Line-1’s Final Elevated Package CS4
Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) on Friday published the final civil tender notice for Surat Metro’s 22.77 km Line-1 which will connect Sarthana – Dream City via 20 stations.
4.15 km Package CS4 of the 40.35 km Surat Metro Phase 1 will connect Sarthana and the North Ramp at Kapodra (under construction by Sam-India). It’ll comprise of 4 elevated stations at Sarthana, Nature Park, Varaccha Chopati Garden and Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Kalakunj in the north-east part of the city.
Like recent tender notices, GMRC hasn’t provided an estimate nor completion period in the basic tender notice.

Scope: Construction of 4.15 km (ch. -450 to ch. 3700) elevated viaduct dead end of Sarthana station to end of UG ramp including 4 stations (Excl. E&M, Architectural finishing and Roofing) for Surat Metro Rail Project Phase – 1, Corridor-1
This civil package will be funded by KfW with whom the government of India signed a Euro 442.26 million loan in December 2021.
The rest of Surat Metro’s Line-1 is under construction by Patel Infrastructure (subcontract of elevated CS1), Gulermak – Sam India Builtwell JV (underground CS2) and J Kumar Infraprojects (underground CS3).
With this development, tender notices are now pending for just the following 2 civil contracts of Phase 1:
- Line-2: Approx. 8 km Majura Gate – Saroli
- Line-2: Bhesan Depot

Are they not going to extent line 2 to the HSR station in Surat?
It seems close enough.
Should happen in Phase 2. HSR Station from Saroli on Line-2 is hardly 5 kms
Hope this section is fast-tracked into a “Phase 1 extension” like done in Chennai
