Bangalore – Hosur Metro: 11 Bidders for Feasibility Study Report
11 firms have submitted bids to Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) for preparing a detailed feasibility report (DFR) to construct a metro line between Bommasandra in Bangalore, Karnataka and Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
This roughly 18 km long inter-state line on NH-44 will go through Attibelle, with 11.5 km of the route located in Karnataka and the rest 6.5 km in Tamil Nadu.
The feasibility study report’s consultant will examine and recommend alignment, type of system (Metro, Metrolite, Metro Neo), estimated ridership, location of stations & depot and associated construction costs.
CMRL had invited bids for appointing the consultant in August 2023 with an unknown estimate and 180 day completion deadline. Technical bids were opened on September 30 to reveal the following 11 bidders.
Bidders
- Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers and Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
- Almondz Global Infra-Consultant Ltd. – Four Wall Consultancy JV
- Balaji Railroad Systems Private Ltd. – Habog Consultants JV
- Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka Ltd.
- L&T Infrastructure Engineering Ltd.
- Meinhardt EPCM (India) Private Ltd. – Cushman and Wakefield India Pvt. Ltd. JV
- Rina Consulting SpA
- RITES Ltd.
- Srei Infrastructure Finance Ltd – CRAPHTS Consultants JV
- SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Pvt. Ltd.
- Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd.
Tender: CMRL/DESIGN/2023 DFR Hosur Bommasandra MRTS
CMRL’s scope: Selection of Consultant for Preparation of Feasibility Study Report for introducing Mass Rapid Transit System connecting Hosur with Bommasandra
The bids are currently undergoing technical evaluation. When completed, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely consultant.
Karnataka’s government isn’t too keen on building this line due to silly “loss in business prospects” reasons and that’s why CMRL is leading this effort. I do wonder what the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) thinks about CMRL stepping into their turf.
Anyhow, there’s a long way to go before construction begins. If the feasibility report is approved, the next step would be to create a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
If this project materializes, I expect the Tamil Nadu government to bear a substantial portion of the cost to construct the Karnataka portion just like the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments did when the Delhi Metro was extended into Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurgaon, Bahadurgarh and Faridabad.
I hope they decide to extend Bangalore Metro’s 19.143 km Yellow Line and not build a new line requiring passengers to interchange at Bommasandra. A line with limited stops, spaced out every 2-3 kms, would be nice just like how it’s being done on Bangalore Metro Blue Line’s Airport section.

Hi our governments fear is substantiated. Tamil Nadu will benefit mord than karnataka. Already lot of industrial activity is built in Hosur and the revenue goes to TN and housing problems kn bangalore gets worse. Better the project is dropped. Earlier TN developed hosur just to rob karnataka it’s industrial development.
Why the stomach burn ?? Dont be lazy, work hard to earn instead of resisting others growth.stopping metro and water etc shows ones narrow mind and inhuman. Live and let others live.
Hosur is well connected with NH why metro?. There are other important areas in Blore where priority needs to be given for Metro. Please come by Road
This is not at all a matter of feeling jealous. It’s a known thing as to how CV gets shortlisted while recruitment in any company dominated by bunch of Tamilians.More to that, Bangalore needs a serious decentralisation where this city has already filled itself to the brim.
I dont understand how the housing issue in bengaluru will worsen due to this ? Did you actually mean housing might move outside of bengaluru and reduce the rents in some places ?
It’s a good move to offload Bangalore housing bubble …rents are sky rocketed and parts cost close to 1cr for no reason.. only the political and real estate mafia wanted to scrap this project ..But as a common man we want decentralisation is need of the hour
Hi Ramakrishna ,
What is the problem to you if TN Improves ?
Can you tell me the reason, why you people don’t like metro link between banglore and hosur?
Don’t be ridiculous, immaterial of anything the project should go ahead, on the long run India will be benefitted. Don’t be selfish it’s a win win situation for all. People like you are Bane on society
This is the genuine answer. It helps more TN people, than Karnataka. That’s the tragedy of namma bengaluru, which is in border , like Mengaluru, bellary, Belagavi, Raichur many big cities of Karnataka, which are border cities.
Bangalore is so well developed if it increases its revenue upto tamilnadu what’s the fault.
The Aaam public will be utiliseing this facilities
We pay so much of road tax .we deserve this opportunity.
Better grow man.Bangalore is an international City.In another border hindupur of Andra also benefitting. You cannot be in island with narrow minded.Greater Bangalore consists of Hosur also.,Like Greater Delhi consists of Gurgaon of haryana and Noida of UP. Already Karnataka population 50,%are out siders not onlyfrom Tamilnadu mostly northndian Andra and Kerala.
Yes Bengaluru is an International city.. It doesn’t mean local doesn’t raise voice.
You outsiders have narrow mind without knowing history and knowledge.
Maharaja of Maysore back in 1930 with vision gave land to IISc, ISRO and many other official organization
There is an history for Bengaluru..
Even Chennai is border with Andhra why should not metro should go to Sri city of Andhra..
You outsiders gettig benefit from Bengaluru. Now raising your voice saying narrow mind and 50% population.. Don’t forget we Kannadiga still exsit in Bengaluru and Karnataka unilke other cities and sates
Hosur is not all considered greater part of Bengaluru
Hosur had better connectivity by roadway and railway why needed metro.
What a myopic opinion. If people are working in Karnataka it means more taxes to Karnataka government. Metro line will reduce the congestion of traffic. You like it or not people will move outside of city. 2 BHK house which is in electronic City will cost you 20000 to 25000 minimum. Same thing in Hosur will cost you 7 to 8000. People look economics than sentiments. Look at the number of accidents happening in daily basis. Why not say safe so many lives.
12km kA and 6km tn
Ok ramakrishna don’t cry
Hogo Konga…. konga people do not even deserve anything. You people just over hype your history and call yourself as oldest Lang. All are just pure lie. 😂
Poda kund1ga devd1ya payale useless low 1q bunda
Kundiga bundas already minority in kannada hothila city.
😂😂 Annae name ultimate
Hey konga who is minor.. You guys came to Bengaluru and Karntaka for job like a begging.😂
Why in your state and city there is no job.. 😂😂
Hogolo
There are no options in our home town for this we are coming here to earn and survive. Here no one feeding us in free, we are working, we are earning , we are paying tax we are responsible for all our needs , we are spending money here so that state revenue is going upward. Here we came for survival not to take some precious thing from u kannadigas. We wont take ur jobs or foods in free. You are also suffering from water scarcity and the same way we are also suffering
At the same time we do have family responsibily , who dont want to work in their hometown. The only reason is that we dont have options in our hometown. If option will open in future then dont worry that time definitely each and every so-called north Indian will leave this place.
If learning kannada is the thing which solve the problem then we are ready to learn one more language which will add more benifits in our day to day life. Thing is that its takes time to learn a new language, In office we are using english at home we are talking our mother tongue. In the office u people are not intrested to mix with us then how come we will learn. We do have repect towards all language.
As u guys are forcing us, Please force the companies as well and ask the govt to not give permission to these companies in karnataka, Then only these companies will move to our state and that time for sure every north Indian warmly welcomes south people to survive and get food, as we know the value of food and value of wrong egos. Think like we are Indian.plz mind it other wise very soon time will make a round …The best example is Kolkata. Whatever kolkata was had that time comparatively now nothing they have except good people.
Total waste of money.. suburban rail on existing Hosur railway track is more than enough
Sir.. trains are going for only City or yeshwanthpur.. no proper connectivity for going to other places… It is very difficult going by bus due to traffic. If metro is implemented is very helpful.
I request BMRCL and CMRL both discard or ban Aarvee Associates as they are not paying salaries to their employees despite running in profits. Generally, all the Metro Rail projects are quite profitable for EPC and Consultancy Firms, whereas Aarvee like companies do not pay salaries and always cry poverty. Please do justice.

Many employees are about to suicide in Aarvee. Please conduct Employee Satisfaction Survey privately, then you will come to know.
Already two’ major projects are closed without implementation 1. HOSUR Airport. 2. HOSUR CHENNAI Railway projects…
Let us hope positively for implementation for this metro
This project is weast, it will not benefit Karnataka, it will only advantage for Tamil Nadu, feature it will create problem as like of cauvery water issue
First, learn English. Second, stop crying and think why you are losing out. Third, analyse why cost of housing is high in Bangalore. Fourth, not everything is about water and you alone living. Think who caused a beautiful city like Bangalore to become an arid place by filling in the lakes. Finally, grow up. Everyone is human and everyone must coexist. Only the politicians have benefit in this rant by instigating each other.
As of you know English better..
Metro to Hosur will never execute.
Even metro starts from Hosur. Hosur rent will not increase??outsiders will not come even you can’t tamilan in Hosur 😂😂
Hosur mainly occupied by outsiders so it will not benefit Tamils anyhow. So waste for Tamils by blood and race.
Tamil Nadu should stop sand and granules which is transported from TN to Bengaluru
Sand and rock quarries banned in KA but Tamil Naadu it’s open still and supplying neighbour states
It is not a National Priority .
.
Metro is for thickly populated areas.
.
Hosur is well connected by NH Roads / Rail.
.
Metro resources are much needed elsewere.
Hello all, I don’t know how far it is helpful for both KA & TN. However, my point is that, if there’s already good road connectivity and you have sufficient buses with less / minimum traffic. Then it’s always better to divert funds to needed projects within Karnataka. Bengaluru is facing huge traffic issue. If anyone would want to consider my suggestion, then I would probably say, KA government should have metro between Bengaluru and Mysooru, which will help thousands of people-/ employees who travel every day. Thanks, Usha Guruprasad
Karnataka Govt. is totally incompetent and has no future thinking on the problems that will crop in future. They are helping Tamilnadu to grow faster and to dictate terms to karnataka in future. cauvery issue itself is an example, where TN does not bother about the sufferings of Karnataka. The present politicians of Karnataka might have got good kickbacks from TN to accept the proposal.
Pl talk slowly Vattal Nagaraj will come for agitation.
I see that the yellow line in suburban project itself stops at Bommasandra. Why cant that go Hosur instead of a metro ? Why not use / expand the existing infra ?
Pay toll to karnataka and use the NH.
With or without metro many people are traveling in and out , this project is only proposed to expand real estate projects along attibele. There is huge land banking happening in these area , all they need is metro connection to attract IT people to fill there apartments .
Sir, the expansion only benefits TN, and many more come to work in Bengaluru, rather we going to Hosur to work.
1. Many companies with HQ in Bengaluru, and their factory in Hosur, will takeaway any job opportunities from karanataka. Except a mearly 25-30 staffs will be here, that to many jobs there also will be take by TN people.
2. For example Ola electric scooter factory established in Krishnagiri, but HO in Bengaluru. What’s the use to us.
3. Titan HQ in Bengaluru, factory in Hosur
4. Many more HQ Offices in Bengaluru, but factory in Hosur.
So it is better to develop the same metro on Mysuru road or Nelemangala side, which atleast helps People of Karanataka.
Karnataka should provide Metro towards Tumkur, Ramnagar, Kanakapura, Magadi,Kunigal instead of Hosur. By making these areas as Industrial hub, local people get jobs.
Why instead of hosur? Why cannot Tumukur, Ramnagar, Kanakapura eetc connected in addition to hosur
Yes Mr.Prasanna, you are right HQs of companies in Bangalore and factories in Hosur, employment is benefitted by Bangalorians mostly since HQs decide, moreover to get skilled workers Bangalore personnel are proffered, Chennai skilled workers are far far away by distance. Have you ever noticed the 7 & 8 AM bus travellers from Bangalore to Hosur, its pitiable, they have to get up early morning and travel to Hosur and reach late night home. Let them be benifitted, the IT being paid by these Bangalore personnel fills the coffers of KA and not TN. Good transportation always benefits the States connected. So lets not through mud on each other. Lets live peacfully and happily. As some one mentioned in this forum water is not the only issue, lets be more broad minded. Let me also tell that though there is good rail transport and road transport, Mysore doesn’t like to be Industrialised they want to see greenery and vegetation all around. Let them continue to live happily like that, a clean city indeed. 🙏

It is better for karanataka govt to shelve or drop the idea of expansion of metro from the existing last stop
Didn’t get your logic on below line. Isn’t it beneficial for commuters to have more station to increase the patronage.
“A line with limited stops, spaced out every 2-3 kms, would be nice just like how it’s being done on Bangalore Metro Blue Line’s Airport section”
Yellow line is meant for Electronic City connectivity. If it extends to Hosur then electronic city and surrounding area people may loose this benefit as the train will be packed at Hosur itself. Hence the purpose of Yellow line will be dissolved. If really both governments want to give a benefit to people then increase the sub-urban rail service.
Great points. True. TN Govt should look at more practical solutions like providing more TN state buses and should complete Suburban project in their district.
We should not see whether Tamilnadu or Bangalore will benefit from any project but think that India is progressing.
Sir, Hosur is leveraging the benefits of close proximity to Bangalore. It is a known fact that Hosur is unable to provide quality schooling and college education for its workforce. It’s employees prefer to stay in Bangalore , to enjoy the high life it provides. Hence, pressure is on Bangalore to provide basic necessities to these people. Tamilnadu is not providing any financial assistance. Onus is on Karnataka govt. Taxes collected on finished goods is being collected by TN govt. Hardly find any justification in extending metro to Hosur.
If you want to help your people in Chandapura and Attibele areas you should happily welcome the Metro project atleast up to Attibele Toll Gate. Balance area Tamilnadu will take care.
Dear Kannadigas, since city is getting populated, already tier 2 cities already are getting formed in various parts of India, eventually tier 3 will form, so if you want to stomach burn, Keep it up. order pizza in traffic congestion, drive into rain water filled tunnels,
Pay a hefty cost of living. Live in a matchbox apartment and so on, we don’t mind.
Dear TMRG, I see lot of professionalism is missing in the comment section from the people of both the states. As per my belief, no one is perfect in this world, so the any gov’t. Because of the dirty politics played by the corrupt politicians, why should we the common people spoil the good relations/harmony among us. We are all humans & Indians, let all the good benefits be available to the people of both the states.
The comment section is entirely along expectation.
Just heartbreaking.
Logically thinking, Tamil people will likely benefit more than Kannada people if this Metro line is taken up. Housing prices in and around Hosur wil improve as they can now focus on getting the software people earning more working in Karnataka , just across the border. Too much greed will do too much bad in the long run. Tamil government should focus on improving itself than trying to gain from other’s success. Karnataka wil likely not give approval for this project as it knows how cunning this particular neighbour state is…
Thinking only for current generation is not of use, think futuristic, time is money, if bus takes 45 mins and metro takes 25 mins between hosur and silkboard, why would a commoner prefer a bus, if this line is under BMRCL, utter benefit is to BMRCL only, just look at NCR and how prosperous it is, Just because metro is provided to gurgaon and Noida, they didn’t get any name or fame, rather Delhi is only flourishing……..We wish the same to happen to Namma Bengaluru….
Vaazhga Tamizh | Jai Karnataka
Very good initiative.. Hosur will be part of Karnataka in no time now..
It is good for both states .
I don’t mind if tye metro is done between Blr and Hosur but it needs to be evaluated with the ROI as well. I bangalore there are already many areas with traffic mess and still not covered by Metro – e.g Old Airport Road and upto Varthur. Many other areas in bangalore also need to be covered with Metro to reduce traffic congestion. If there are limited resources we need to check where it gives maximum ROI and implement

Connecting of Hosur & Bommasandra by Bangalore Metro Rail (BMRCL) and the Mekedatu dam across Kaveri River should go together. The Tamilnadu government should extend cooperation with Karnataka government to construct the dam across Kaveri river at Mekedatu, which is beneficial to both the States in general & drinking water to Bangalore in particular. Otherwise, only extending Metro service to Hosur is meaningless & not acceptable.
This is not good for Bengaluru people. Let them build in their state but they shouldn’t be connected at all..
With STRR coming, you can expect more Industrialisation around this area, moreover there are many buses runs up to Attibele from various parts of the city, it is not the question of TN benefitting, there are multiple people cross borders day in and day out, providing transport Infra can reduce time to this Industrial hubs will benefit people who are suffering to travel in less time and we already have this option up to Bommasandra and it is the matter of extension, should think futuristic
They should also add Tamil in Bangalore metro. Why only Kannada and English is there?
Metro to Hosur will be only on papers it will never be an execution..
Hosur to Bangalore have better connectivity and planned project why also metro??
1. Roadways: Satellite ring road which include hosur
2.Railway : Better connectivity with suburban railway
2Airways : by ring road connectivity and helicopter planbed projects
Should Not consider only infrastructure or inter state connectivity. Also local people jobs, employment issues and other factor also should be considered..
Bmrcl should also consider to extended metro surrounding Bengaluru Karnataka cities which will help to Karntaka peoples Why only to hosur ??
1)KIA(Airport Rd)- Chikkabalpur City
2)Chelghtta(Mysore Rd)-Bidadi Industrial Area
3)Konnapa Agrahara( Bannerghtta rd)- Jigni Industrial area
4)Madavara (Tumkur Rd)- Tumkur city..
Thank God NHAI is in place.
A day will come when all Metro SPV such as BMRCL, DMRC, GMRC, CMRL etc. will be 100% owned by Government of India. As already, 50% Ownership lies with Government of India for a silly reason like this, state government cannot overrule the centre, if feasibility is done and DPR is made. It is inevitable centre will get this metro built.
Decision and Veto Power of Government of India will prevail.
