CEG Wins Bhopal & Indore Metros’ Design Verification Engineer Contract
March 24, 2024 Update: MPMRCL on March 15 issued contract LOA to CEG – MM S.p.A. JV with a contract value of Rs. 16.30 crore.
March 9, 2024 Original Post: Consulting Engineers Group (CEG) – MM S.p.A JV was today declared as the lowest bidder for the Design Verification Engineer (DVE) contract BH-IN-16 of Indore Metro and Bhopal Metro’s Phase 1 projects by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Limited (MPMRCL).
CEG – MM as the DVE appointed by MPMRCL will be responsible for design verification of all architectural, civil, geotechnical, structural, water supply, sewage, drainage designs for elevated stations and underground stations including temporary and permanent structures of the following packages:
- Bhopal Metro: BH-03 (5.34 km elevated), BH-04 (3.39 km underground) and BH-05 (12.9 km elevated)
- Indore Metro: IN-04 (5.2 km elevated) and IN-O5 (8.62 km underground)
MPMRCL had invited bids for this consultancy service in May 2023 with a Rs. 28.71 crore estimate and 4 year contract duration. Technical bids were opened in October 2023 to reveal 5 bidders out of whom Egis Rail and STUP Consultants were disqualified during evaluation for not meeting the tender’s requirements.

Brief Scope: Design Verification Engineer (DVE) services for construction of Elevated Viaduct including Stations, Ramps and Tunnelling works including underground stations for Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Projects
CEG’s bid of Rs. 16.30 crore was well below MPMRCL’s budgeted estimate of Rs. 28.71 crore, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.
Financial bids have been opened for 3 of these packages (BH-03, BH-04, IN-04 ) to reveal their civil contractor, technical bid evaluation is underway for BH-05, while bidding is currently underway for IN-O5 which will connect Indore Railway Station and Indore Airport via 7 underground stations.
