3 Bidders for Bhubaneswar Metro’s Detailed Design Consultant Contract BCDD-02

Three consulting firms have submitted bids for Bhubaneswar Metro Phase 1 project’s Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract BCDD-02 after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) opened technical bids in late-May.

The scope of this contract includes two parts. The first pertains to 26.04 km Line-1’s Phulapokhari Depot and its Operational Control Centre (OCC)’s architectural, electrical & mechanical (E&M), traction and civil works. This facility for servicing 26.04 km Line-1 (Biju Patnaik Airport and Trisulia Square) will be built under Package BBC-02 and a contract to M I A Construction was just awarded on June 14 (see details).

The second part involves proof checking Line-1’s substructure (viaduct), special span (location unknown to me, but likely over Indian Railways’ line on Barang Road), stations and 750V DC traction & power supply works.

DMRC had invited bids for this consultancy contract in March 2024 with a Rs. 22.20 crore estimate and 36 month deadline. Technical bids were opened on May 22.

DMRC’s Brief Scope: Engagement of Detail Design Consultant (DDC) for Architectural and Building Services including E&M, Traction works and Civil works for Depot and OCC building including proof checking of substructure for viaduct, special span including its superstructure and stations for from Biju Patnaik Airport to Trisulia Square Phase-I of Bhubaneswar MRTS BMRC, along with 750V DC traction & power supply works for elevated station & depot and RSS works.

The bids have since late May been undergoing evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When completed, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely consultant.

Technical bids were opened today for the main-line’s construction via packages BBC-03, BBC-04 & BBC-05. I’ll share a list of bidders when I get a wind of their names, so stay tuned!
