Ceigall Wins Bhubaneswar Metro Package BBC-05’s Contract

August 14, 2024 Update: DMRC has issued LOA to Ceigall with a contract value of Rs. 898.99 crore.

August 5, 2024 Original Post: Ceigall India Ltd. (CIL) was today declared as the lowest bidder to construct Package BBC-05 of Bhubaneswar Metro’s Phase 1 project which will connect Trisulia Square – Biju Patnaik Airport via 20 elevated stations.

10.97 km Package BBC-05 at the northern-end of 26 km Line-1 is the longest of all 3 main-line civil packages. It links KIIT Square and Trisulia Square via 6 elevated stations at Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Barang Station, Phulapokhari, Trisulia Square.

Its scope also includes a ramp leading to Phulapokhari Depot & Workshop which will be built by M I A Construction under Package BBC-02 on a 16 hectare parcel.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had invited bids for its construction in March 2024 with a Rs. 869.71 crore estimate and 36 month deadline. Technical bids were opened on June 19 to reveal 10 bidders – all of whom passed technical evaluation.

All stations’ exact location has been marked out on Google Maps over here.

Ceigall’s bid of Rs. 899.00 crore was 3.37% higher than DMRC’s estimate of Rs. 869.71 crore which is negligible, so a contract should be awarded in the coming days without a long financial bid evaluation period.

When awarded, this will be Ceigall’s 3rd major EPC contract for a metro project in the past 6 months after Agra Metro Line-1’s Package AGCC-05 and Kanpur Metro Line-2’s Package KNPCC-12.

I expect basic pre-construction ground work to begin by the end of September and full-fledged construction to start in the middle of Q4 in November-December.

With today’s development and Ranjit Buildcon winning Package BBC-03 last week, now only financial bids for 7.27 km Package BBC-04 (Acharya Square – KIIT Square) are left to be opened.

In other news, DMRC on Friday issued a Letter of Award (LOA) to Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats (ICT) for the line’s Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract BCDD-02.

Please complete the Bhubaneswar metro rail project before Patna metro as tenders of rolling stock have not been invited till now for Patna metro😂😂 and tenders for coaches for Bhubaneswar metro invited before the mainline construction

Geotechnical soil investigations also seem to have started in multiple locations across all three construction packages for Bhubaneswar Metro
