NCC Wins Bankot Creek Bridge’s Contract in Maharashtra

August 23, 2024 Update: MSRDC has cancelled the tender and re-invited bids for construction.

August 14, 2024 Original Post: NCC Ltd. in July-end was was declared as the lowest bidder for the civil construction of 1.7 km Bankot Creek Bridge on EPC mode in western Maharashtra.

This new bridge over Savitri River will connect Bankot (near Vesvi Port) in Ratnagiri District and Bagmandla (near Harihareshwar) in Raigad District – view on Google Maps.

Bankot Bridge on Maharashtra State Highway SH-4 (Revas – Reddi Coastal Highway) is part of a series of at least 8 new bridges being built by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) across creeks and rivers to cut down driving times between towns along the Arabian Sea.

MSRDC had invited bids for its construction in March 2024 with a Rs. 272.88 crore estimate and 3 year construction deadline. Technical bids were opened on July 2 to reveal 4 bidders, and financial bids were opened on July 22 to reveal NCC as the lowest bidder.

Brief Scope: RFP FOR Construction of Major Bridge across Bankot Creek between Kolmandla District Raigad to Veshvi on Revas Reddi Coastal Highway in Ratnagiri District on EPC Mode in state of Maharashtra

NCC’s bid of Rs. 355.99 was a staggering 30.45% higher than MSRDC’s estimate of 272.88 crore so this will definitely head straight to the negotiations table, but looking at other bids I’m not sure if there’s much wiggle room. If anything, MSRDC will have to do the heavy lifting.

• Dharamtar Creek Bridge – Afcons Infrastructure is lowest bidder
• Jaigad Creek Bridge – Ashoka Buildcon is lowest bidder
• Kundalika Bridge – Ashoka Buildcon is lowest bidder
• Kunkeshwar Bridge – Vijay M Mistry Construction is lowest bidder
• Kalbadevi Bridge – Vijay M Mistry Construction is lowest bidder
• Bankot Creek Bridge – NCC is lowest bidder (this post!)
• Dabhol Creek Bridge – Tender Cancelled in June
