DMRC Releases Official Phase 4 Map of the Delhi Metro Project

March 7, 2019 Update –  61.679 km of Phase 4’s routes across 3 lines (priority corridors) with 45 stations have been approved by India’s Central Government for construction.

February 9 2016 Update– A new modified plan of Phase 4 has been released. Check out the following link to view it: DMRC MD Approves Survey for Modified 95.86 km Phase 4.

July 15 2016 Update– The Delhi Government has apparently approved the Phase 4 plan in its original form. Check out the following link to view more details and a map: Delhi Govt. Approves Delhi Metro Phase 4’s DPR

Original post:

Thanks to my follower Pritish Singla for giving me a heads-up that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has released a map of the proposed 103.93 km Phase 4 in their 2014-15 annual report! While initial details of Phase 4 have been made public in the past and various media houses have published their own construed version of it, this map is the first map to be published by the DMRC and can be taken as a good benchmark or idea for what’s in-store for Delhi until the final Detailed Project Report is ready.

The image quality uploaded by the DMRC is evidently not the best, so I’ve recreated the map with the actual alignment towards the bottom of this post.

Here’s the map the DMRC published. A higher resolution of it can be viewed here.

In Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro project,  the following lines & extensions will be built:

Extensions:
• Rithala – Narela (Red line) – 21.73km
Stations: Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, Rohini Sector 32, Rohini Sector 36, Rohini Sector 37, Barwala, Put Khurd, Bawana Industrial Area – 1, Bawana Industrial Area – 2, Bawana, Bawana JJ Colony, Sanpath, New Sanath Colony, Anaj Mandi and Narela

Janakpuri West – R.K. Ashram (Magenta line) – 28.92km
Stations: Krishna Park Extn, Keshpur, Meera Bagh, Paschim Vihar, Peeragarhi Chowk, Peergarhi, Mangolpuri, West Enclave, Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Rohini East, Prashant Vihar , North Pitampura, Haiderpur, Mukarba Chowk, Bhalaswa, Majlis Park, Azadpur, Ashok Vihar, Derawal Nagar, Rajpura, GG Sabji Mandi, Pulbangash, Sadar Bazar, Nabi Karim and RK Ashram Marg

Mukundpur – Maujpur (Pink Line) – 12.54km
Stations: Burari Crossing, Jagatpur Village, Surghat, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Maujpur

Inderlok – Indraprastha (Green line) – 12.58km
Stations: Dayabasti, Sarai Rohilla, Ahmal Khan Park, Nabi Karim, New Delhi Delhi, LNJP Hospital, Delhi Gate, IG Stadium and Indraprastha

New Lines:
Tughlakabad – Aerocity (20.20 km)
Stations:  Tughlakabad, Tughlakabad Railway Colony, Anandmayee Marg Junction, Tigri, Khanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Saket G Block, Saket, Lado Sarai, Mehrauli, Kishangar, Masoodpur, Vasant Kunj (Sec-D), Mahipalpur and Delhi Aerocity

Lajpat Nagar – Saket G-Block (7.96 km)
Stations: Saket-G Block, Sheikh Sarai, Chirag Delhi, GK-1, Andrews Ganj, Lajpat Nagar

As per a report from last year, the Lajpat Nagar – Saket line will be a spur of the Tughlakabad – Aerocity line, similar to how the Yamuna Bank – Vaishali line is a spur of the Dwarka – Noida line. In the next 3 years, I expect additional extensions of existing lines to be proposed which will take Phase 4 beyond the proposed 103.93 kms route length.

Once Phase 4 is complete, in 2 maps – here’s how the Delhi Metro’s network with the proposed 103.93 km Phase 4 will look like. Both maps have been embedded into the post to allow you to zoom in/out and explore for yourself!

By PhasePhase 1 | Phase 2 |  Phase 3 | Phase 4

After the funding pattern & mechanism for constructing phase 4 is decided and a bulk of Phase 3’s construction nears completion in 2017, the tendering process for Phase 4 will begin! I expect actual construction on the ground to start in 2018. 🙂

How on Earth are they going to extend Green Line from Inderlok — the Green Line platform butts the Red Line platform.

    • Ankur garg says:

See the map carefully there is no extension after inderlok

      Reply
      • Sumit Malik says:

The reconstructed Map seems to be wrong … in the official (schematic) map, the comments in the bottom left corner say that the extension will start from Inderlok (and the schematic map itself shows that the extension will start at Inderlok Interchange).

The reconstructed map seems to show the extension to start as a branch from Ashok Park Main.

Hi, the alignment of the line I constructed is indicative and doesn’t represent the actual alignment. As per my interpretation, ‘Inderlok’ is merely suggestive of the general area from where the line will begin despite the map & key showing so. If you check the place out on Google Earth, there’s no clear Right of Way (i.e. space) for the line to allow trains to move from Inderlok to Rohtak road towards Indraprastha. The line could be built underground from Inderlok but nothing to that effect has been announced. If the line indeed begins at Inderlok, then it’ll be a completely new line (with a new color) which will require a depot as well and space for that would be extremely difficult to find between Inderlok & Indraprastha. In my opinion, in order for users to avail an easy & continuous ride from Bahadurgarh/Mundka into central Delhi, the physical construction of the line will have to begin at the general area where I’ve marked it. In the next 2 years, more details on the the actual alignment will be made public. Whenever that happens, I’ll make sure to write about it!

I know. That’s what I said … It’s impossible to extend the green line from Inderlok because the station abuts Red line station.

    • deepak says:

please see the maps. green line will not extend beyond that station, but a branch line may be created.

In my opinion the line will go backwards from Inderlok and will cross the existng track after some distance and will turn towards Inderprastha.

In phase-IV rithala to narela is showing but we had expected that it has to connected by Badli to Narela (yellow Line) because most of people travel in yellow line from narela and other parts nearby narela, at this time we have just one option to take EMU train and go to Badli metro station. Therefor there is no use of red line in narela at all because we will be travelling by the same route.
Narela Should be connected by Yellow line also.

It is not understandable that why construction of Dwarka to Gurgaon Metro link is not getting matured. Lacs of persons are daily travelling on this route. This line is of small length. This will resolve the traffic jams, will save oil and foreign money. This will save crores of manhours and will provide physical and mental relief to lacs of residents and their family members. Therefore this will provide unlimited benefits to individuals, society, country and environment.

    Dear Metro Team,

In phase 4, there is proposed line between the tuglakabad & aerocity.

Which is going to pass through saket. Saket is already connected to metro.

Before proposing station I would like to give you the background of this area called Maidan Garhi.

This area contain several villages like Indira Enclave, Neb Sarai, Freedom Fighter Enclave Neb Sarai Extension, Sainik Farms, Paryavaran Complex, Saidulajab. In addition to above village there is also prominent Indira Gandhi National Open University also present & also new SAARC university campus is under construction as mentioned in http://www.sau.int/.

Currently in this area holds the good number of population of various economic background.

On daily basis several thousand people pay visit to university for various reason in addition to permanent resident using the single lane narrow road. Which always broken throughout year.
Over the next few years this number people using the road going to increase since new university is under construction.

By constructing new station at IGNOU will help resident & other people commuting to this place.

Where by taking metro to near mall will help people only on Saturday & Sunday.

Whereas the station at IGNOU can help resident of this area to overcome daily commuting.

So my request to you from all resident of this area will please consider the station at IGNOU.
