What is the difference between bid and tender?

‘Tender’ refers to the overall application submitted by infra companies in response to the operator’s notice for procuring a service, product or piece of infrastructure. This application comprises of different sub-documents: work experience, financial standing, bank guarantee, technical bid and financial (price) bid etc. As per the rules laid down by international lending institutions and metro operators, each bidder is first evaluated & filtered out on eligibility, then technical bid and finally the financial (price) bid.

Both terms can be used interchangeably. I primarily use ‘bid’ in the title to keep it short.

    Hi TMRG

    Thanks for the update

When will the tender work start for Phase II. I believe Phase II work should start in parallel to Phase 1 extn. What is the latest status on Phase II?

    Thanks

Hi, the project requires TN govt’s cabinet approval. Preliminary work to appoint a general consultant (GC), detailed design consultant (DDC), and different surveys/studies (eg. topographical survey, environmental impact assessment etc.) can only start after that.

Construction work is at least 2 years away from beginning.

CMRL is waiting for local ministers and the MoUD to agree on an inauguration date. There’s some minor work pending, but that’s not a show stopper.

why south chennai beyond airport is ignored ?? .. Tambaram is the south gate and it extends up to Mahindra world city. Chennai is the automotive capital of India which is served in those points , The IT Corridor will also be enabled , but why no efforts taken from both govt and the public ???!!!

South Chennai will be connected in Phase 2.

With the new metro rail policy in place, it’ll take a few year for plans to be finalized & approved.
