Telangana CM Reinvites PM Modi to Inaugurate Hyderabad Metro in Nov

Telangana’s Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has reinvited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate two sections of Hyderabad Metro’s 72 km Phase 1 project during his visit to the city for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit from November 28 to 30.

Strangely the length of the completed network, ready for inauguration, is mentioned as 30 km while only 20 km of the Phase 1 network is structurally ready, tested and approved for operations by the local Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety –

• 29.87 km Line-1’s 12 km Miyapur – SR Nagar section (approved by CMRS in October 2016) with 10 stations at Miyapur, JNTU, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally, Balanagar, Moosapet, Bharat Nagar, Erragadda, ESI Hospital and SR Nagar.

• 27.29 km Line-3’s 8 km Nagole – Mettuguda section (approved by CMRS in March 2016) with 7 stations at Nagole, Uppal, Survey of India, NGRI, Habsiguda, Tarnaka and Mettuguda.

Letter shared by the Chief Minister’s son on Twitter –

Barring the 6 km section through the old-city, 1 km section between Hitec City-Raidurg and the above two sections, the rest of the network (approx. 45 km) is in the construction stage and far from being ready for operations – see an image of the Ameerpet Interchange here and here which’ll open up only in or after 2018.
