MahaMetro Invites Bids for Platform Screen Doors at Nagpur Metro

On December 26 2017, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation invited bids for the installation of platform screen doors (PSDs) at all 40 stations of Nagpur Metro’s 41.2 km Phase 1 project. Since the project the entirely elevated, these PSDs will only help to prevent suicides & accidents due to passenger movement, and not play any role in lowering maintenance costs.

Tender documents were on sale between December 26 and January 29, and the last date to submit bids has been revised to February 29. MahaMetro hasn’t provided an estimated cost, but would like them to be commissioned within 104 weeks of awarding the contract.

No information about their height has been released, but they’ll likely be half-height –

Installation of these PSDs / PSGs should be made mandatory (as a statutory requirement) for all mass transport corridors…across the metros and Indian railway sub-urban stations..
