ITD Completes Bangalore Metro’s Span over B Narayanapura Flyover

This weekend, workers from ITD Cementation India Ltd. completed launching precast segments on top of B Naranayapura Flyover in Mahadevapura for building the 15.257 km Whitefield extension of the Purple Line as part of the 73.921 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project.

This section is a part of the 8.039 km Reach 1A which connects the existing Baiyappanahalli Station to Visvesvaraya Industrial Area through 6 stations. ITD Cementation won its Rs. 689.51 crore civil construction contract from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) in April 2017.

Per a source, the line’s viaduct here with 11 segments is about 21m above the ground, which is a little higher than the HCC-URC JV built Yellow Line span, between RV Road and Ragigudda, over the Green Line.

Here are some fantastic images from Twitter follower @WF_Watcher (Whitefield Woes) shot over the past 10 days. Check out his tweets for images of Phase 2’s yellow & pink lines showing construction sites across Electronic City, Jayadeva, and others.

Bangalore Metro Phase 2A project’s Line-5 (Silkboard – KR Puram), which will be built primarily on the Outer Ring Road, will cross the Purple Line right underneath the steel girder seen above and run parallel to form an interchange at KR Puram in the future.

BMRCL hasn’t updated their newsletter section since February 2020, so it’s tough to provide a quantitative assessment on this line’s progress. I’d highly recommend checking out @WF_Watcher‘s tweets for views from Hoodi Junction, Garudacharpalya, ITPL, Vydehi Hospital, and more.
