Finishing Works Underway at Mumbai Metro’s Akurli Station (Line-7)

With civil construction works on Mumbai Metro’s Akurli Station long completed, here’s a picture-post with images shared by me and others on Twitter of its interior architectural finishing works, roofing and external façade-works taking place by different contractors.

Akurli Station (formerly Bandongri) on Mumbai Metro’s Line-7 (Red Line) in Kandivali East is in the most advanced stage of completion out of 14 elevated stations of this 16.5 km line which’ll connect Dahisar East and Andheri East on the Western Express Highway.

Its civil construction was carried out J Kumar Infraprojects through a Rs. 360 crore contract awarded by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in April 2016 for the Aarey – Mahindra & Mahindra section.

In January 2018, MMRDA awarded RCC Eco Build Systems Ltd. with a contract for Akurli Station’s pre-fabricated steel roof structure including entry and exit structures. Other stations in this contract include Pushpa Park, Mahindra and Mahindra, Magathane, Devi Pada, National Park and Ovaripada.

In July 2018, MMRDA awarded CB & Sons Constructions Pvt. Ltd. with a contract for Akurli Station’s architectural finishing, plumbing works including interior fit outs. Other stations in this contract include Aarey, Pathanwadi, Mahindra & Mahindra and Pushpa Park.

Studio Archohm – the appointed architectural design firm – released a sneak-peek design render in September 2019 with full-blown design renders and a facade design concept video in April 2020 through its Instagram page.
