U-Girder Launching Begins for Delhi Metro Pink Line’s Extension

This news totally escaped my radar! Towards the end of November, workers from Longjian – KEC JV began launching 28m long U-girders to construct the viaduct of the Delhi Metro Pink Line (Line-7)’s 12.098 km extension between Maujpur and Majlis Park.

Since then a total of twelve 165 ton U-girders have been placed in Jharoda Majra.

This package-level major milestone was achieved 12 months after Longjian – KEC JV was awarded Delhi Metro Phase 4’s second contract for Package DC-02 (Maujpur – Sonia Vihar – Majlis Park) in November 2019 with a contract value of Rs. 1,080 crore and completion period of 30 months.

Their scope of work includes building the entire Pink Line’s 12.098 km viaduct, bridge over the Yamuna River (work on it began in June), a PWD double-decker flyover and 8 stations at Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas, Sonia Vihar, Wazirabad Surghat, Jagatpur Village, Jharoda Majra and Burari.

The team had started casting U-girders in August at a yard located near the Signature Bridge in Wazirabad, and erected the first pier cap for the line’s superstructure on October 26 at pier P325.

Today’s view with 12 U-girders erected

With this development, U-girder launching activity to build Phase 4’s 3 corridors is underway on two out of four elevated packages: DC-01 (Magenta Line) and DC-02 (Pink Link). The ones pending are Sam-Gulermak’s DC-03R (Magenta Line) and YFC Project’s DC-04 (Silver Line)

Gulermark’s casting Yard is next to Majilis Park Metro Station and is almost complete. They have completed barricading the route from Badli Mor to Ashok Vihar. Piling is being done majorly between Badli Mor and Majilis Park.

I don’t have a date or rough timeframe. I’m as eager as you to know when it’ll arrive. BEML usually conducts a small ceremony on the day of dispatch.

Hi, can u tell me what’s the update about the missing link between Trilokpuri and Mayur Vihar? Have they started constructing the link there? I don’t see any news related to the same nowadays. Kindly let me know, thanks.

And regarding the construction of the Punjabi Bagh interchange between Green and Pink Lines, what is the expected time of construction completion of the bridge?
