SNC Casts Bangalore Metro ORR Line Package 2’s 1st Pile Cap

Shankaranarayana Constructions (SNC) this week cast their first pile cap at Doddanekundi to construct Bangalore Metro’s 56 km Blue Line on the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The city’s new Blue Line by BMRCL is being developed in Phase 2A (ORR Line) and Phase 2B (Airport Line) to connect Silkboard – KR Puram – Bengaluru International Airport through 30 stations.

This feat by SNC for the ORR Line’s 8.377 km Package 2 (Kodibeesanahalli – KR Puram) was recorded for Pier number ORP-469 located on the northern end of Doddanekundi Flyover. A massive portal pier shaped like the letter ‘n’ is going to be constructed here on what was earmarked for a bus rapid transit (BRT) line.

This isn’t the first pile cap for the ORR Line though. Afcons Infrastructure working on Package 1 cast their first pile cap between Bellandur and Ibblur in November – see details and a snap of the first pier taking shape.

SNC was awarded ORR Line Package 2’s Rs. 623.55 crore contract in May 2021 after emerging as its lowest bidder in October 2020.

Their scope includes constructing the line’s Kodibeesanahalli – KR Puram section’s 8.377 km viaduct, 7 elevated stations at Kodibeesanahalli, Marathahalli, ISRO, Doddanekundi, DRDO sports complex, Saraswathi Nagar and K R Puram, a 1.097 km depot-line linking to the existing Baiyapanahalli Depot and a 0.30 km pocket track.

SNC is chasing a 27 month deadline and will be monitored by RITES as the Project Management Consultant to BMRCL. Till now, they’ve completed 160 piles. Typically 4 piles constitute a pile cap (see diagram), but for the one above 7 piles have been used to support the viaduct.

Does the 27 month deadline look realistic?

Hey TMRG bro, I think 27 month deadline is achievable bcz
    1) Most of the land on this corridor land is acquired.
    2) High Court has allowed BMRCL to cut the trees so activists can’t legally stop the construction
    3) U-girders are being used
    4) Contractors are finically stable (Unlike companies like Simplex)
    5) We have RITES as consultant
Tell me your point of view..

Both Blue line and purple line have Binnigana halli station. Is that mean both KR puram and Binnigana halli station will act as interchange station?

Blue line doesn’t have Benniganahalli. It will just be connected to Bayappanahalli Depot after it gets converted from DTG to CBTC mode

I have been trying to find the exact location of Marathahalli station on the blue line (Silk board to K R puram). TMRG – can you please recheck the map for Marathahalli station’s exact location. I talked to several groundsman and they all seems point to a location thats atleast 400 meters North of your map marking.

    Please clarify.

Hi – location I marked is based off an alignment doc BMRCL shared a couple years ago. It might have changed since then. I’ll adjust it when its site appears on satellite imagery.
