L&T & J Kumar Awarded Delhi Metro Silver Line’s Tunneling Contracts
Larsen & Toubro and J Kumar Infraprojects on Wednesday were awarded 2 underground tunneling contracts (DC-09 & DC-08) of the 65.1 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project‘s 23.622 km Silver Line.
Both firms had submitted the lowest revised bids in mid-February after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) internally re-invited price bids from the technically qualified bidders of the original round.
Both packages come with a 42 month deadline and are being financed by JICA through a Rs. 8,390 crore ODA loan.
Package DC-08
This 6.116 km Aerocity – Kishangarh section is on the western-end of the 23.622 km Silver Line and comprises of 4 stations at Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj and Kishangarh.

- Awarded to: J Kumar Infraprojects (JKIL)
- Final Contract Value: Rs. 1611.74 crore (INR 1426,99,50,000 + USD 2,45,00,000)
Brief Scope: Design and Construction of Twin Tunnel (Up & Down Line) by Shield TBM, Cut and Cover Tunnel box and four Underground stations namely Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj and Kishangarh with Entry/Exits & Connecting subways from chainage (-) 760 mt. to 5356.285 mt. of Aerocity to Tughlakabad Corridor of Phase-IV of Delhi MRTS.

Package DC-09
This 6.51 km section, with twin-tunnels smack-dab in the middle of the Silver Line will connect Kishangarh Station’s east-end (chainage 5356.285) with a ramp (chainage 11867.000) west of Saket G Block Station through 4 stations at Chhattarpur (interchange with Yellow Line), Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU and Neb Sarai.

- Awarded to: Larsen & Toubro (L&T)
- Final Contract Value: Rs. 1737 crore (INR 1533,50,10,000 + USD 2,70,00,000)
Brief Scope: Design and Construction of Twin Tunnel (Up & Down Line) by Shield TBM, Cut and Cover Tunnel box, Underground Ramp and four Underground stations namely Chhattarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU and Neb Sarai with Entry/Exits & Connecting subways from chainage 5356.285 mtr. to 11867.000 mtr. of Aerocity to Tughlakabad Corridor of Phase-IV of Delhi MRTS.

With this exciting development, all 4 JICA-funded underground packages of Phase 4 have now been awarded! Basic ground work on DC-07 by Afcons started recently, and I see work on the rest starting latest by May.

Don’t have progress numbers, but hear both TBMs are stuck.

Earlier in 2021 these 2 packages were awarded to Tata Projetc – DC-08 and AFCONS DC-09 correct???
Weren’t awarded. They were declared the lowest bidders, but their bids were way above DMRC’s estimates so fresh bids were invited.
