Mumbai Metro Line 6’s Girder Launched over Line 2A by JKIL

J Kumar Infraprojects’ engineers last week launched a 48 meter special steel girder for the 15.18 km Mumbai Metro Line-6 (Pink Line) project which will connect Swami Samarth Nagar – Vikhroli via 13 elevated stations.

The girder over Line-2A’s viaduct on Link Road was placed near Infinity Mall for Package BC-03 of the project. Its Rs. 867.75 crore contract was awarded to J Kumar – CRTG JV in August 2018 by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Their scope involves the construction of a 6.079 km viaduct from chainage – 822.508m to 5257.400m and five stations at Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala), Adarsh Nagar, Jogeshwari (W), JVLR and Shyam Nagar.

Bidding for Line-6’s key systems (rolling stock, signaling, telecom etc.) has still not started, so at this time I do not see commercial operations starting before 2025. Its tender notice is dependent on the finalization of the line’s depot which is planned to be built at Kanjurmarg but got muddied up with Line 3.

I really hope both State and Centre come to an agreement on both Metro 6 Kanjurmarg and the HSR alignment (and BKC Terminal) so both projects get completed soon.
Metro 6 was always supposed to have its Depot at Kanjurmarg, right?

Hello, is the issue of metro line9 carshed resolved? Would the construction of metro station in double decker section(line6&9) hamper the opening of the Flyover below?

Yeah TMRG, is there any updates on Rai Murdhe Depot of Line 9. Last time I’ve heard that Villagers were agree to give land for the Depot but they want a fair Compensation and a Metro stn beside Depot for convenience. But now no updates were coming now. I hope that Rai Murdhe Depot issue get sort out Anytime soon

Geotechnical investigation tender was published, but nothing beyond that.

TMRG what happens to the bad situation of the roads below the metro lines.
The entire stretches have been dug up for the metro work.
Who is suppose to repair them?

MMRDA is responsible. Typically metro orgs (BMRCL, UPMRC) issue tenders to have them fixed post construction.
