SNC Launches Bangalore Metro ORR Line’s 1st Pier Cap

Shankaranarayana Constructions (SNC) on Friday early morning erected their first 9.5m wide pier cap in Mahadevapura for Bangalore Metro’s 56 km Blue Line on the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The city’s new Blue Line by BMRCL is being developed in Phase 2A (ORR Line) and Phase 2B (Airport Line) to connect Silkboard – KR Puram – Bengaluru International Airport through 30 stations.

This feat by SNC for the ORR Line’s 8.377 km Package 2 (Kodibeesanahalli – KR Puram) was recorded at pier ORP-473, located opposite Bagmane Tech Park, which was cast in January and stands 13.7 meters tall.

The pier cap weighs 65T and such launches will now become a regular nightly affair in the city.

BMRCL awarded ORR Line Package 2’s Rs. 623.55 crore contract to SNC in May 2021 with a tight 27 month deadline.

SNC’s scope includes constructing the line’s Kodibeesanahalli – KR Puram section’s 8.377 km viaduct, 7 elevated stations at Kodibeesanahalli, Marathahalli, ISRO, Doddanekundi, DRDO sports complex, Saraswathi Nagar and K R Puram, a 1.097 km depot-line linking to the existing Baiyapanahalli Depot and a 0.30 km pocket track.

Friday morning!

Further up north on the Blue Line, NCC’s Package 3 team has cast the Airport Line’s first pier (AP-851 in Chikkajala – view image) while Package 2’s team has started casting their first pier (AP665 near Bagalur Cross). I’ll write a quick post on it when the molds are removed.

I guess Afcons will also start launching pier caps soon, but they haven’t erected as many piers as SNC to start with. They’re slightly behind schedule I believe.

More than the Silk Board – K R Puram line, the Core Focus is on KIA line. Hence they r doing it a Bit Faster. Since Bayappanahalli is closer to KR Puram, the Depot will easily serve the KR Puram to Airport Phase-2B section, and will not be connected to the completion of the Phase-2A part.

In our country most of the metro work executed by various competent bidders were ahead of schedule or ontime. However Karnataka most of the public works are delayed significantly with payment of huge escalation. I feel in our entire country, Karnataka is the most corrupt state.

Please use correct spellings. It is Kaadubeesanahalli. Don’t change name of locations.

There are two stations. One is Kodibisanahalli and one is Kadubeesanahalli.

Because both stations are in the same area, on both sides of the underpass. Also don’t worry, Kadubeesanahalli station will likely be renamed to Embassy Tech Village station (Kadubeesanahalli) because Embassy’s sponsoring it apparently.

Another new girder technology has come to India – Arch Girder. Agra metro is using these. Hope BMRC’s Phase-3.0 (ORR West line and all) also use this technology
