Mumbai Metro Line-6’s 56m Girders Placed Over WEH and Line-7

J Kumar Infraprojects this past week launched three 56m long steel composite girders for the 15.18 km Mumbai Metro Line-6 (Pink Line) project which will connect Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala) – Vikhroli via 13 elevated stations.

The girders weighing 240MT were placed at JVLR Junction over the Western Express Highway (WEH) and Line-7’s completed, but yet to be operational, viaduct for Package BC-03 of the project.

Two of the girders were launched on the 13th weekend and the final one this past weekend.

Package BC-03’s Rs. 867.75 crore contract was awarded to J Kumar – CRTG JV in August 2018 by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Their scope involves the construction of a 6.079 km viaduct from chainage – 822.508m to 5257.400m and five stations at Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala), Adarsh Nagar, Jogeshwari (W), JVLR and Shyam Nagar (Majas Depot).

At JVLR Junction, Line-6 and Line-7 stations’ paid concourse areas will be connected via an approximately 300m long foot overbridge (FOB) which’ll gradually slope downhill from Line-6 (height of 33.8m) to Line-7 (23.34m) – see details here.

Back in April 2022, J Kumar launched a 48 meter special steel girder over Line-2A near Infinity Mall – see pics and information.

Bidding for Line-6’s key systems (rolling stock, signaling, telecom etc.) has still not started, so at this time I see commercial operations starting no sooner than 2025. The rolling stock contract’s tender notice is dependent on the finalization of the line’s depot which is planned to be built at Kanjurmarg but got muddied up due to the prior state government.

@TheMetroRailGuy Do you think they will be able to Open entire stretch of Metro Lines 2A & 7 by 26th January 2023?

Been a little busy, so I haven’t closely tracked progress in the past couple months. Media reports indicate CMRS’ final inspection is underway right now, but I haven’t heard about it taking place from my sources. Line-1 and Line-7’s interchange is ready from what I saw.
