4 Bidders for Mumbai – Ahmedabad Bullet Train’s C3 Package

June 16, 2023 Update: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is lowest bidder – see details

April 12, 2023 Original Post: 4 firms (3 in a consortium) have bid to construct 135.45 km Package C-3 of the 508.17 km Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR Bullet Train) project after National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. (NHSRCL) opened technical bids today.

Elevated Package C3 will link Shilphata – Zaroli (chainage Km 21.150 – Km 156.600) in Maharashtra and includes 3 elevated stations at Thane, Virar and Boisar. The construction of Thane Depot will be carried out via a separate civil construction contract (Package D1).

NHSRCL had invited bids for C3’s construction in November 2022 with an unknown estimate and 1704 days (4.66 years) completion deadline. Note the surprise bid by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) – their first!

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which should take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely construction contractor.

Package C3 is the longest of 3 civil packages within Maharashtra state and the final civil package of the entire project to reach the technical bid opening stage. A list of all bullet train civil and system packages and their status can be viewed here.

Does DMRC sending a wrong message by partnering with DRA? What if other organisations like Cmrl, MMRC, UPMRC start supporting such private players.

Should Know the scope of DMRC to understand this arrangement better.

      Dear Naveen Ji

      Well…

What abt L&T, AFCONS or any other company the time when they start their operations.

      By the time they become
      Afcons, L&T & Kalpatru

Same, DRA… who else has a Dare to do JV with DMRC & come forward.

It took time for anyone to built Brand.
Dont we judge them just from name or work they do.

Every company rises by doing small works, getting support, doing JV’s etc.

DRA giving more than 20000 jobs in market as direct employees & indirect via subcon and lab con.

      Hope i clear…

Well… culture took time to create / build
          But
Still the office culture, team are very professional.
Staff joined from big companies who served long tenure with big companies.

We can’t judge at this stage about any one.

As mentioned. Brand will took time build.
Afcons, jmc, hcc, not built in a year.

The company who has guts to do JV with DMRC imagine, what vision the company has & movingly forward for the road of success.

          We all myst support.

Look, DMRC is a biggest organisation when it comes to MRTS and is now acting as consultant to many other bodies across India. What if there is a tender out in DMRC and a Quid pro quo by DMRC to DRA ?

I opinion that DMRC should have avoided and should stand alone. Anyway it’s just my personal opinion or my perspective might be wrong. Good luck to all the players who have participated.
