Paras Wins Mumbai Metro Line-5A’s Track-Work Contract CA-166

Paras Railtech on Wednesday was declared as the lowest bidder to supply and install ballastless tracks on a 12.72 km section of Mumbai Metro Orange Line (Line-5) which will connect Thane – Bhiwandi – Kalyan through 17 stations.

Standard gauge tracks from this contract (Package CA-166) will be installed at Line-5’s western section, known as Line-5A, between Kapurbawdi – Dhamankar Naka and on the depot-line near Kasheli Station. This elevated section with 7 stations is under construction by Afcons Infrastructure via civil Package CA-28 since early 2020.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited bids for the track-work contract in February 2023 with an unconfirmed estimate of Rs. 108.41 crore and 1.5 year installation deadline.

MMRDA’s estimate remains unconfirmed (figure above is likely not correct), so I can’t really provide an assessment on the possibility of a contract getting awarded to Paras.

MMRDA is slowly chipping away at Line-5’s system and civil contracts. Back in March, Rithwik Projects was declared as the lowest bidder for Kasheli Depot’s civil contract. From what I hear, a LOA is yet to be issued.

Almost 90% civil work excl Station works is done. Only 2 stretch is remaining 1 where line ends at Dhamankar Naka second near Kasheli. Electrification work hasn’t started yet. Btw Amazing speed by Afcons. Looks like Afcons slow done it now.
