L&T Awarded Bangalore Metro Phase 2A & 2B’s Track Work Contracts

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL)’s updated website indicates Larsen & Toubro on June 2 was awarded two track-work contracts with a total value of Rs. 500.94 crore for Bangalore Metro’s 56 km Line-5 (Blue Line).

This line of Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2A (ORR Line) and Phase 2B (Airport Line) will connect Silkboard – KR Puram – Bengaluru International Airport through 30 stations on the Outer Ring Road and NH-44.

L&T’s scope includes supply and installation of approximately 110 km of ballastless tracks for the main-line and ballasted tracks inside the remodeled Baiyappanahalli Depot & Airport Depot at Shettigere.

BMRCL had invited bids for this critical systems contract through 2 packages (T1 & T2) in October 2022 with an unknown estimate and 3 year completion deadline.

Package T1’s scope includes the entire ORR Line and a part of Airport Line between KR Puram – Kempapura, while Package T2’s scope includes the Airport Line’s Kempapura – Airport section.

I don’t have a list of bidders and their bid values for either package If someone does, then leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the Contact page. I’d like to add it in here for record keeping.

Hope BMRCL considers designing/ painting the Stations along the Blue line based on different themes Like the ISRO station can have space technology related interior…the DRDO sports complex can have Defence products based painting. Similarly each station can have a unique concept based interior. This should make Namma Metro unique and away from the stereotype stations

think Sarjapura Road Line Metro to be considered as The Road is Predi congested with Traffic and it is important main Road traversing IT Parks and The Road to be widened …
