LKT – Enia JV Wins Mumbai Metro Line-12’s Design Consultant Work

LKT Engineering Consultants – Enia Design JV this Monday was declared as the lowest bidder for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract of Mumbai Metro’s 20.75 km Line-12 (Orange Line) which will connect Kalyan – Dombivali – Taloja through 17 stations.

Line-12 by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will be built as a southern elevated extension of the partially under construction 24.95 km Line-5 (Thane – Bhiwandi – Kalyan) at an estimated cost of Rs 4,132 crore.

MMRDA had invited bids for this consultancy contract in December 2022 with a Rs. 11.28 crore estimate and an expected contract duration of 4 years. Technical bids were opened in March to reveal 6 bidders.

Egis Rail – Egis India JV and MM S.p.A – SMEC JV were disqualified as they weren’t able to provide documentation to support the minimum eligibility criteria of work experience.

17 stations are planned to be built at Ganesh Nagar, Pisvali Gaon, Golavali, Dombivli MIDC, Sagaon, Sonarpada, Manpada, Hedutane, Kolegaon, Nilaje Gaon, Vadavali, Bale, Waklan, Turbhe, Pisarve Depot, Pisarve, Taloja.

LKT – Enia JV’s bid of Rs. 6.51 crore was well below MMRDA’s estimate of Rs. 11.28 crore, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.

Back in December 2022, SYSTRA MVA Consulting – DB Engineering & Consulting JV was awarded Line-10 and Line-12’s General Consultant contract. In May, 11 construction firms submitted 19 bids for the line’s civil construction through 2 packages: CA-195 (Kalyan – Kolegaon) and CA-186 (Kolegaon – Taloja).
