Texmaco Wins Delhi Metro Magenta Line’s Track Contract DT-08

January 4, 2024 Update: DMRC has issued LOA and awarded Texmaco Rail & Engineering with a Rs. 117,08,37,681.40 contract for Magenta Line’s track work.

December 24, 2023 Original Post: Texmaco Rail & Engineering earlier this month was declared as the lowest bidder to install ballastless tracks on Delhi Metro Magenta Line (Line-8)’s 28.92 km Janakpuri West – RK Ashram extension.

Standard gauge rails (1435 mm) from this contract (Package DT-08) of Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project will be installed at the viaduct of elevated packages DC-01A (Keshopur – Mangolpuri), DC-01 (Mangolpuri – Haiderpur-Badli Mor), DC-03R (Haiderpur-Badli Mor – Derawal Nagar), and inside the twin tunnels of underground package DC-05 (Derawal Nagar – RK Ashram).

DMRC had invited bids for this track-work contract funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in September 2023 with a 3 year deadline. It remains unconfirmed, but I hear the estimate might be Rs. 112.50 crore.

Technical bids were opened in mid-October and financial bids on December 13.

DMRC’s Brief Scope: Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Ballastless Track including supply of MSS & Buffer stop for Line-8 Ext. (Keshopur – Majlis Park – R.K. Ashram) (Ch. 2814.677m to Ch. 30061.24m).

DMRC’s estimate is unconfirmed, so I can’t provide an assessment on how Texmaco’s bid is placed and the timing of next steps. If it’s indeed Rs. 112.50 crore, then we should see a contract getting awarded in the coming weeks.

Back in September, Paras Railtech started track-work activities inside the Magenta Line’s 2.03 km underground Package DC-06 connecting Janakpuri West – Krishna Park Extension. That’s the only section not included in DT-08’s scope which includes roughly 92% of the Magenta Line’s new route.

DetoxTraveller on YouTube recently posted 2 videos showing the physical progress made on the Magenta Line’s extension. The first one covers Peeragarhi to Pitampura, a part of Package DC-01A under construction by HG Infra Engineering:

The second video covers Majlis Park to Pitampura, a part of Package DC-01 under construction by CCECC – KEC JV:

  1. Aspiring Indian says:

HG Infra scope is till Mangol puri, not Pitampura.
Badli – Derawal Nagar metro is being built by SAM India, not KEC.
