Pune Metro Nigdi Extension: LKT Awarded Design Consultant Contract DDC-01

LKT Engineering on December 29, 2023 was awarded a Rs. 1.11 crore contract by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) to provide Detailed Design Consultancy (DDC) services for Pune Metro Purple Line’s 4.519 km PCMC – Nigdi (Bhakti Shakti) extension.

This extension of Pune Metro Phase 1 Extension or Phase 1A project was approved for construction by Central Government’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in October 2023 with an estimated cost of Rs. 910.18 crore. It includes the construction of 3 elevated stations en route at Chinchwad, Akurdi and Nigdi.

MahaMetro had invited bids for its DDC service via Package DDC-01 in September 2023 with a scope to produce and propose alternate designs of all civil, architectural, building services, electrical and mechanical works.

In November, they received 3 bids from Nippon Koei – BDP Design Engineering JV, LKT Engineering, and Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats. Financial bids were opened on December 11 to reveal LKT Engineering as the lowest bidder.

I don’t have bid values submitted by each bidder. If someone reading this is aware then leave a comment below or shoot me a message using the Contact page. I’d like to add it in for documentation.

Final Contract Value: Rs. 1,11,00,000

MahaMetro’s Brief Scope: Detailed Design Consultancy services for 3 (three) elevated stations viz. Chinchwad, Akurdi, and Nigdi, excluding viaduct in station portions on PCMC to Nigdi corridor of Pune Metro Rail Project

MahaMetro had invited bids for the civil construction of this extension’s viaduct in December 2023 with a 2.5 year deadline. The current technical bid opening date is February 2, 2024.

With LKT Engineering now onboard as the DDC, I expect a tender notice for constructing the 3 stations en route to be published by Maha-Metro in the next 4-6 months.
