Bids Invited for Pune Metro Nigdi Extension’s Construction Work

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) last week invited bids for the civil construction work of a 4.519 km new viaduct to extend Pune Metro’s 16.589 km Purple Line from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi (Bhakti Shakti)

This construction contract (Package P1A-C-01) under Pune Metro Phase 1 Extension project was approved by the Central Government’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in October 2023 with an estimated cost of Rs. 910.18 crore.

The construction of 3 elevated stations en route at Chinchwad, Akurdi and Nigdi will be carried out via a separate package for which a tender notice is pending.

• Estimate: Unknown (I hear it might be Rs. 174 crore)
• Period of Work: 130 weeks (2.5 years) from LOA
• Pre-Bid Meeting: January 9, 2024 at 11 am
• Bid Submission End Date: January 22, 2024 up till 4 pm
• Bid Opening Date: January 22, 2024 at 4:30 pm

Maha-Metro in September had invited bids for appointing a Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for this extension’s three stations. They received 3 bids from Nippon Koei – BDP Design JV, LKT Engineering and ICT, and I hear financial bids are supposed to be opened anytime now to declare the winner.

A similar DDC contract for the 5.46 km Swargate – Katraj underground extension was cancelled by Maha-Metro earlier this month without offering a reason. That extension is currently pending approval from MoHUA.
