5 Bidders for Agra Metro’s AGCC-05 Construction Contract on Line-1

Five firms have submitted bids for the civil construction work of Package AGCC-05 on 14.25 km Agra Metro Line-1 (Taj East Gate – Sikandra) after Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) opened technical bids today.

This 3.725 km long elevated section of 29.40 km Agra Metro Phase 1 project will link RBS Ramp in Khandari with Sikandra via 3 elevated stations at ISBT, Guru Ka Taal & Sikandra – all located along national highway NH-19 (old NH-2).

This package is located on the northern-end of the line and is the third & final package for Line-1 main-line’s construction work. UPMRC had invited bids for its construction in November 2023 with a Rs. 296.78 crore estimate and 24 month deadline.

Bidders

  • Ceigall India Ltd.
  • Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Ltd.
  • HG Infra Engineering Ltd.
  • NCC Ltd.
  • PNC Infratech Ltd.

UPMRCL’s Brief Scope: Design and Construction of elevated viaduct and 3 Nos. elevated stations (viz. ISBT, Guru Ka Taal & Sikandra Metro Station) including Civil, Associated and Ancillary Structure, Architectural Finishes, Water Supply, Sanitary Installation, Drainage, External Development, Fire Fighting, Fire Detection, E&M works and PEB structures of Balance Section chainage (-) 42.96 m to 3682.941 m of Corridor-1 of Agra Metro at Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

I’m surprised Sam India Builtwell didn’t participate as they just completed construction work on the line’s 2.4 km elevated package AGCC-01 (Taj Mahal Ramp – Taj East Gate) where trial runs have been underway since July 2023.

Anyhow, the eastern-end of this package – RBS Ramp – is under construction by Afcons – Sam India JV as part of 7.93 km Package AGCC-02 (Khandari Ramp – Taj Mahal Ramp). In December 2023, they had launched tunnel boring machine (TBM) S115 southwards from the ramp to build the up-line tunnel towards Agra College Interchange Station. TBM S-718C is currently being assembled to build the parallel down-line tunnel.
