3 Bidders for Bhopal & Indore Metros’ Automatic Fare Collection Contract

Three firms on Thursday submitted bids for the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) contract (Package BHIN-07-01) for Indore Metro and Bhopal Metro’s Phase 1 projects.

This contract by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MPMRCL) will be executed on the PPP (public private partnership) model where the chosen contractor will be responsible for design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing & commissioning of the end-to-end Open loop EMV (RuPay/Master/Visa) NCMC card-based AFC system and QR code-based ticketing, with each device connected to a central back-office AFC system.

MPMRCL invited tenders for this contract in March 2022 with a 4 year deadline and Rs. 230 crore estimate.

Bidders

  • Asis Elektronik ve Bilişim Sistemleri A.Ş
  • NEC Corporation India Pvt. Ltd.
  • Shellinfosg Global Digital technologies

Brief Scope: Design Manufacture Supply Installation Testing and Commissioning and Maintenance of open Loop EMV NCMC card and QR code based Automatic Fare Collection AFC System for Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Projects

The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely the AFC system vendor.

ShellInfo last year won Chennai Metro Phase 2’s AFC contracts AFA03A and AFA03B. Asis Elektronik in the past has won contracts for Pune Metro‘s Phase 1 in a consortium with HDFC Bank, Kochi Metro‘s Phase 1 in 2017 in a consortium with Axis Bank, and for Mumbai Metro’s Line-3 in January 2019 in a consortium with Kalindee Rail Nirman

State Bank of India (SBI) in October 2022 was the only bidder for both Indore & Bhopal Metros’ AFC system’s financial banking contract. I haven’t heard of a contract getting awarded yet. If someone is aware of where that contract stands, then please leave a comment below.
