Godrej Wins Mumbai Metro Line-4 Stations’ Finishing & PEB Contract CA-222
Godrej & Boyce earlier this month was declared as the lowest bidder for the architectural finishing and pre-engineered building (PEB) roof contract CA-222 at 7 stations of the 32.32 km Mumbai Metro Line-4 project which will connect Wadala – Kasarvadavali via 32 stations.
These 7 elevated stations in the southern-end of Mumbai Metro’s Green Line are located at Garodia Nagar, Pant Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Shreyas Cinema, Godrej Company, Vikhroli Metro & Surya Nagar.
All 7 station’s civil construction is being carried out through 6.406 km civil package CA-09 which was awarded to Tata Projects – CHEC JV way back in March 2018 with a 30 month deadline.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited bids for their architectural finishing contract in October 2023 with Rs. 200.83 crore estimate and 20 month deadline. Technical bids were opened in January to reveal 3 bidders.
Financial Bid Values
Firm | Bid (Rs. Crore) |
Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. | 251.02 |
Eagle Infra India Ltd | 257.62 |
Landmark Corporation Pvt Ltd. | 261.80 |
MMRDA’s Brief Scope: Architectural Finishing and plumbing Works including interior fitouts, façade etc. along with Part Design, Fabrication, Supply and Erection of Pre-Engineered Structure including Entry-Exit Structures for 07 elevated stations viz Garodia Nagar, Pant Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Shreyas Cinema, Godrej Company, Vikhroli Metro & Surya Nagar of Line-4 corridor [Wadala-Ghatkopar-Mulund-Thane-Kasarvadavali] of Mumbai Metro Rail Project of MMRDA
Godrej & Boyce’s bid of Rs. 251.02 crore was 24.99% higher than Rs. 200.83 crore estimate, so this will head to the negotiation table with the tendering process likely to get scrapped in the coming months if the MMRDA doesn’t budge from their position.
MMRDA faces a similar conundrum for Package CA-194 where the lowest bid submitted by Eagle Infra is still 23.94% higher than MMRDA’s estimate. That package involves architectural finishing for 7 stations between Mulund Fire Station and Majiwada.
As shared in the past, MMRDA and Systra MVA Consulting (Line-4’s Detailed Design Consultant) had appointed GPM Architects & Planners with designing 12 stations. I’m not sure if this design is current, but here are a few renderings from their website (see link for more).
This line along with all other lines in Mumbai are crawling. MMRDA recently re-invited bids for its rolling stock contract and within the tender documents expect their independent safety assessor (ISA) and Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to certify the line’s Phase 1 fit for revenue operations in August 2026.

What the hell!!
They should extend line 1 to green line to have interchange option. I know that line 1 extension is difficult from ghatkopar but if they try, they can get best engineering solution to have extension till green line with one station for exchange
It’s because of land availability as Ghatkopar station area is full of Commercial and Residential owners. So even if they want to make interchange Land acquisition cost will go to sky rocket high. i.e it’s drop to have interchange. I got a rumour that they will make a Skywalk to have interchange will line 1 From Shreyas Cinema station ( R City Mall ). Let’s see what will happen the distance is not short it’s good 1.5 – 1.6 km.
