URC Casts Indore Metro’s Final Segment for Package IN-03 on Super Corridor

Besides Patel Infrastructure in Surat, there was another civil engineering team some 500 km away that celebrated casting their final box segment on Friday.

That team was URC Construction, which on a subcontract from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL), finished casting all 3302 segments for 33.53 km Indore Metro Yellow Line‘s 10.927 km Package IN-03. This elevated section connects MR10 Road – Gandhi Nagar stations primarily along Super Corridor Road.

URCC’s team had cast their first segment for Indore Metro Phase 1 project‘s Package IN-03 in April 2022. Each segment has a top width of 8.5m, bottom width of 3.5m, and weighs approximately 37 MT. Workers then started launching segments in July 2022 between Super Corridor 2 and Super Corridor 3 stations.

RVNL was awarded a Rs. 1034 crore contract for 33.53 km Indore Metro Phase 1 project’s Package IN-03 in September 2021 with a 847 days (2.32 year) deadline. They in turn subcontracted out its construction work to URC Construction for an undisclosed amount.

Besides a 575m depot-line, URCC’s scope includes constructing 9 elevated stations at Gandhi Nagar, Super Corridor 6, Super Corridor 5, Super Corridor 4, Super Corridor 3, Super Corridor 2 and Super Corridor 1, Bhawarsala Square and MR 10 Road.

    Good job team.
Casting segments for a 10 km stretch in less than 2 years is amazing. Now I hope they continue the momentum on IN 04 and build it asap coz that is where the ridership is.
