Besides Kanpur Metro KNPCC-12’s contract, Ceigall India Ltd. (CIL) was today awarded a Rs. 266.94 crore contract for the civil construction work of Package AGCC-05 on 14.25 km Agra Metro Line-1 (Taj East Gate – Sikandra) by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).

This package is located on the northern-end of the line and is the third & final package for Line-1 main-line’s construction work.

UPMRC had invited bids for AGCC-05’s contract in November 2023 with a Rs. 296.78 crore estimate and 24 month deadline. Technical bids were opened in February to reveal 5 bidders, while financial bids were opened this Wednesday.

UPMRC took just two days from opening financial bids to awarding the contract – something that’s unheard of in other metro organizations.

As shared in Kanpur’s post, both are Ceigall’s first contracts in the metro construction space and their experience primarily lies in the highway / expressway indsutry – see examples on my site here.

With this development, I expect Ceigall to begin basic ground towards the end of Q2 2024 (April – June) and full fledged construction work in Q3 2024 (July – September).

Contractors for all sections of Agra Metro’s 14.25 km Agra Metro Line-1 (Taj East Gate – Sikandra) have now been assigned.

Damn this UPMRC is so fast in execution of contracts and it’s metro projects

But it seriously needs to expand the Lucknow metro and takeover Noida metro operations

Other metro companies need to work like UPMRC , others are always slow!
