Agra Metro AGCC-05’s First U-Girder Cast by Ceigall

Ceigall India and its subcontractor Dixcon Infra this Tuesday began casting 28m long U-girders for the viaduct of Package AGCC-05 on 14.25 km Agra Metro Line-1 connecting Taj East Gate – Sikandra.

Package AGCC-05 is a 3.725 km elevated section of 29.40 km Agra Metro Phase 1 project and will link RBS Ramp in Khandari and Sikandra via 3 elevated stations at ISBT, Guru Ka Taal and Sikandra – all located along national highway NH-19 (old NH-2).

Ceigall’s casting yard at Runkata village near Sikandra (view on Google Maps) consists of 1 (eventually 2) U-girder casting bed from where I estimate approximately 220 U-girders weighing 170MT will be cast to build Agra Metro Line-1’s northern viaduct.

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) had awarded Ceigall India with AGCC-05’s Rs. 266.94 crore construction contract in March 2024 with a tight 24 month deadline.

Package AGCC-05 is located on the northern-end of the line and is the third & final package for Line-1 main-line’s construction work. It will be connected to 7.93 km underground Package AGCC-02, and both twin tunnels between the Ramp and RBS College Station were completed by Afcons – Sam India Consortium in May.

Although Ceigall was awarded civil contracts for Agra Metro Line-1’s AGCC-05 and Kanpur Metro Line-2’s KNPCC-12 at the same time in March 2024, in Agra they’re running around 2 months behind Kanpur’s schedule since they had to setup a brand new yard in Agra while in Kanpur they moved right into KPIL’s old yard for Line-1’s Package KNPCC-07.
