As shared earlier, a special slab track system will be utilized for the Bullet Train project instead of a conventional ballasted track system found in main-line railway lines. NHSRCL has a dedicated page for this with information on its economics and dynamics.

Here’s a cool infographic shared by NHSRCL in the past showing different components of the Japanese J-Slab track system.

Here’s the scope and status of the Mumbai – Ahmedabad Bullet Train’s 3 track-work packages:

    1) I thought it will be completed at lease till Virar or Thane by 2029 but looks it won’t be completed until 2031.
    2) you written IFB Number as T-2 i think it will be T-1.

Thanks, corrected IFB number. Barring rolling stock & other delays, a 2029 opening up to Virar is possible as the track laying schedule will be staggered. Works will begin from the northern side as and when civil contractor completed and hands over access to track-contractor.

    1) 5.9 years! That’s way too long for track laying work. What’s the reason behind it?
    2) Also given the ongoing rumouer about the delayed E5 series rolling sotck tender and the railways planning to build a train set capable of 250kmph. Don’t you think the timing is strange? What are you thoughts on this. I don’t want to see a 250kmph train running on a track that is mostly capable of 400kmph speed.

      1) Based on when civil work is anticipated to be progressively completed and handed over for track work
      2) Plan is to build and deploy 2 local trainsets – I think this is good as long as it’s used only for testing purposes for future rolling stock development. We need to start manufacturing our own HSR rolling stock and this is a good start. I don’t know the exact status of the line’s rolling stock contract, but do believe we’ll get E5 for operations which are another ~3 away from starting.

This might interest you (from ChatGPT):

“apan’s first bullet train system, the Shinkansen, took about five years to construct from the start of construction in 1959 to its completion and inauguration in 1964. The system, designed for high-speed rail travel, was initially developed to connect Tokyo and Osaka, spanning about 320 miles. Its debut coincided with the Tokyo Olympics, marking a milestone in transportation innovation and showcasing Japan’s engineering capabilities. “
