3 Bidders Qualify for Pune Metro Nigdi Line’s Station Contract C-02

Three bidders in December-end qualified for the civil construction of 4 elevated stations on Pune Metro Purple Line‘s 4.519 km extension from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi’s Bhakti Shakti.

Package P1A-C-02 is the second construction contract of the Pune Metro Phase 1 Extension (Phase 1A) project and includes the construction of new stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi and Bhakti Shakti along Old Mumbai Road’s eastern service road.

Pune Metro Phase 1A project’s first contract (C-01) for viaduct work was awarded to Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) in March 2024 and construction work began in June 2024.

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro or MMRCL) then invited bids for constructing four stations enroute in August 2024 with an unknown estimate and a tight 90 weeks (1.7 years) construction deadline.

Technical bids were opened on November 7 to reveal 4 bidders, and evaluation was completed on December 30. Vikram Infratech was the only bidder that didn’t meet the tender’s conditions and was disqualified. Godrej & Boyce’s bid raised my curiosity as they’ll be new to the civil construction space having always bid for station architectural finishing contracts in the past.

MahaMetro’s Brief Scope: Construction of four (04) nos Elevated Metro Stations viz. Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi & Bhakti Shakti excluding viaduct, pier arms, girder erection, deck slab at concourse & platform level and E&M works but including Plumbing works on the North-South Corridor of Pune Metro Rail Project- Reach 1 Extension.

All four stations were designed by LKT Engineering – the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) through a Rs. 1.11 crore contract awarded in December 2023.

Financial bids of all 3 qualified bidders were opened on December 30. I don’t have bid values for this package, but if someone reading this does then leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the Contact page. I’m fairly certain RVNL wasn’t the lowest bidder – otherwise they would have announced the result to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
