Bids Invited for Delhi Metro Saket – Lajpat Nagar Line’s Contract D2-C02
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday invited bids (tenders) for the civil construction work of Delhi Metro Golden Line‘s 8.385 km spur connecting Saket G-Block and Lajpat Nagar.
This development comes 10 months after India’s Central Government approved the spur’s construction under the 112.32 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project. This line is officially designated by DMRC as Line-11 and color-coded as Golden.
Line-11’s construction will be carried out under two packages. The first package D2-C02 involves construction of a 7.298 km viaduct from chainage 1202.782m to chainage 8501.25m, and the platform level of 7 elevated stations at Pushp Vihar, Saket District Court, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, GK-1, Andrews Ganj and Lajpat Nagar.
D2-C02’s Tender Details
- Deadline: 36 months (3 years)
- Estimated Cost: Rs. 456.06 crore
- Pre-bid Meeting: January 14, 2025 at 11 am
- Bid Submission Deadline: February 18, 2025 at 3 pm
- Technical Bid Opening: February 19, 2025 at 3 pm
DMRC’s Brief Scope: Part Design and Construction of Viaduct of Length 7.298 kms. from Chainage 1202.782 m to Chainage 8501.25 m including seven (07) stations (Only platforms) namely Pushp Vihar, Saket District Court, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, GK-1, Andrews Ganj and Lajpat Nagar including Pre-Engineered Building Structure in all stations of Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block Corridor of Delhi MRTS Phase-IV Project
All stations’ exact location has been marked out on Google Maps over here.
DMRC has modified the line’s alignment through Saket and Pushp Vihar several times over the past 10 years. I’ve documented older iterations of it over here.
Looking at the tender documents, the concourse level of these stations will be built under a separate package and located adjacent to the platforms, somewhat similar to how Kailash Colony Station on the Violet Line is built. All stations except for Pushp Vihar (140m long) will have a length of just 74m which will allow the operation of just 3-coach trains.
Package D2-C02’s construction will be funded through equity participation of the Government of India and Government of Delhi and other appropriate means of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.
With this development hopefully tender notices get posted soon for civil other packages of the Golden Line’s spur and 12.377 km Inderlok – Indraprastha extension of the operational Green Line which was approved together.

Very bad decision was there a ridership issue here? If no why did they go with 3 coach trains in this section?
It’s being done to improve point to point connectivity , also if I have to come from lajpatnagar to saket or any other station before it, I have to change from INA to yellow line but now I can travel directly….it should save atleast 15 min per ride per passenger, that’s about 100 extra hrs in a year, so every one in that area will have extra 4 days which was consumed in transit.
New 210 Metres MAHSR Bullet Train bridge completed on NH 48 on 2nd January 2025. This is your FYI, TMRG. 🙂

3 coaches wtf… why even give constructing Metro system there if ridership projections are such low? Simply shelve it!
With this decision I am sure now they would consider 4 coach trains for Green line extension as well (Instead of firstly converting existing 4 coach fleet to 6)
As usual authorities in the whole country opt for bare minimum standards in everything and improve gradually in the name of phasic development, instead begin from max. standards.
Are these platforms upgradable to 6C length in future? Mumbai is also building metro although their progress is very slow compared to Delhi but their station architecture and finishing is much better than delhi metro which still uses those blue roof😑
Only if they have internal plans for expansions in future. Budget + Design/Architect consultants is the factor, how the aesthetics turns out, Line 2 & Line 3 of mumbai had good consultant and budget.
They are constructing a station which can accommodate only 3 coach train! So, there is no scope for any Phasic development here.
