Himcon Wins Delhi Metro Golden Line’s Architectural Finishing Contract DC-09A

Himcon Engineers India Pvt. Ltd. on Monday was declared as the lowest bidder to perform architectural finishing works at 4 new underground stations of Delhi Metro’s 23.622 km Golden Line (Line-10) which will connect Aerocity – Tughalakabad via 15 stations.

The 4 stations of contract DC-09A include Chhattarpur Station, Chhattarpur Mandir Station, IGNOU Station and Neb Sarai Station. Their construction work is currently being carried out by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as part of the 112 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project’s 6.51 km underground Package DC-09 connecting Kishangarh Station – Saket Ramp.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had invited bids for DC-09A with a 2 year deadline in June 2024 financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through a Rs. 8,390 crore loan.

Technical bids were opened on September 25 to reveal 9 bidders. During evaluation, the bids submitted by Metcon India Realty and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. and YFC – BBG JV were found non-compliant to the tender’s conditions and were disqualified.

DMRC’s estimate is unknown to me, so I can’t provide an assessment on how Himcon’s bid is placed and the chances of a LOA being issued. We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.

If awarded, this will be Himcon’s second contract in Phase 4 after Mukundpur Depot’s remodeling / augmentation work (Package DC-27).

As shared in the past, DC-09 is in the most-advanced stage of construction among all 3 underground packages (others are DC-07 & DC-08) of the Golden Line with Larsen & Toubro completing 4/10 planned tunnel breakthroughs. The last breakthrough by DZ1123 (TBM-2) was recorded last in October and images in this post of mine shows how the western shaft at Chattarpur Mandir Station looked like back then.

At this time I see commercial operations on the Golden Line starting no sooner than mid-2027. A list of Delhi Metro Phase 4’s civil & system contracts and their status can be viewed here.
