IRCON Wins Mumbai Metro Line-6’s Power Supply & E&M Contract CA-233

Besides Line-4’s systems Package CA-236, IRCON International on Thursday was also declared as the lowest bidder for the second major systems contract of Mumbai Metro’s 15.18 km Line-6 (Pink Line) which will connect Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala) – Vikhroli.

This contract for Line-6’s systems under Package CA-233 includes commissioning the line’s power supply & traction system, electrical & mechanical (E&M) system, lifts and escalators at its 13 elevated stations. Three contracts for these stations architectural finishing works were just awarded in January.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited bids for this mega systems contract in January 2024 with a Rs. 587.86 crore estimate. Technical bids were opened in November 2024 to reveal 4 bidders of which 3 qualified to the financial bid opening stage.

IRCON’s bid of Rs. 627 crore was only 6.71% higher than MMRDA’s estimate of Rs. 587.86 crore which is negligible in the metro space. This comes as a relief and I expect a contract to be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.

Technical bid evaluation is currently underway for Line-6’s Package-1 (CA-232). That mega systems contract includes supplying rolling stock (108 coaches), CBTC signaling & train control (S&T), telecommunication, platform screen doors (PSDs), and depot machinery & plant (M&P) for Kanjurmarg Depot.
