Say hello to Lucknow Metro – India’s 9th metro system built in a record 3 years 🙂
Less than an hour ago, India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated services on the first 8.48 km elevated stretch of Lucknow Metro’s 22.878 km Line-1 (Phase-1A) between Transport Nagar and Charbagh at an event held at the Transport Nagar Depot. The programme started with an inaugural plaque getting unveiled, followed by speeches, and finally the inaugural train getting flagged off from Platform #1 of Transport Nagar Station.
Construction on this section popularly called the ‘priority corridor’, started in September 2014 by Larsen & Toubro (package LKCC-01) and in September 2015 by SP Singla Constructions (package LKCC-02) with an estimated cost of Rs. 2000 crores. Following an initial round of secretive testing, trial runs (testing) commenced on December 1 2016. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRCL) received the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO)’s speed certificate in March-end and the CMRS’ final safety inspection certificate on August 14 after a number of corrections and load tests.
LMRCL finalized the line’s fare chart in August 2017 and initially plans to run services, operated by an all-female crew, from 6 am to 10 pm by deploying 4 Alstom metropolis trains (with another 5th train on stand-by) at a headway of 7 minutes to serve users through 8 platinum certified green stations at Transport Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Singar Nagar, Alambagh, Alambagh Bus Stand, Mawaiya, Durgapuri and Charbagh –

Why do they always have women drivers to run the first train..
Its the trend nowadays, nobody gives a shit when women are glorified and men are discriminated. But if it is the other way round, all hell breaks loose. And then they talk about equality.

You have said that men are discriminated because women are given such a glorious opprtunities so what about at that time when male dominating society goes off the track and do evilness with women is that not discrimination by men to a women ??? & motivating someone is wrong or means discrimination??? It’s the thinking of old and uneducated people I hope you are not that!!! RESPECT WOMEN

Which are the next 5-7 lines lined-up for commercial operations over the next 12 months?
Looks like this is the fastest from start of construction to commercial oeprations. Kochi took 41 months? This looks like 36 months.

Mr ashu..let me clarify that if men and women are considered equal then there should be no discrimination at all..not againat women and not against men as well. Giving undue priviledge, reservations to women is dicrimination against men. What if such reservation are given to men..how would women take it.
You tell me that men raping women is a discrimination against them. Correct. But we have laws in the country to stop and punish such discrimination. Do we have any law to stop discrimination against men. No. Coz thats what our country has become. In the name of women empowerment, we are giving them too many priviledges. If they are as equal as men..why cant they achieve it on merit basis. Giving jobs to only women drivers is discrimination to men. Same would apply to women if men are favoured. And both the cases are wrong. Equality means giving equal opportunities, not equal outcome. Outcomes should be based on one’s own merit. You said “RESPECT WOMEN”. I say “RESPECT EVERYONE”.
