Bids Invited for Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2’s Package C3
Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) last week invited tenders for the construction of Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 project’s 7.553 km Sector-1 – Mahatma Mandir section in Gandhinagar.
This is the 3rd and final civil construction tender notice for this 28.254 km new phase which will see Ahmedabad’s north-south Red Line getting extended by 22.838 km from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir via 20 new stations.
This section will consist of 7 elevated stations at Sachivalaya, Akshardham, Juna Sachivalaya, Sector-16, Sector-24 and Mahatma Mandir. Similar to Surat Metro’s latest tender notice for CS5, GMRC hasn’t hasn’t provided an estimate, which is fine, but surprisingly not even a completion period.

Scope: Construction of 7.553 kms elevated viaduct and 7 nos. of stations (incl. E&M, Architectural Finishing, Roofing, Plumbing, Signage, etc.) from Sector-1 to Mahatma Mandir (ch. 31945.443m to 39498.302m, Package C3) in connection with Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, Phase-2
This section’s design was prepared by SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) as the DDC, and its construction will be financed by Agence Française de Développement (AFD) which I expect should begin in Q4 2022.
The first 2 sections of Phase 2 are well under construction with both contractors commencing U-girder launching activity in Q4 2021:

It’s strange. Must definitely be in the more detailed tender docs. Otherwise biz dev teams wouldn’t know how to base their calculations and bid.
Does ahmedabad have any underground section?
Yes, the stations in the old Ahmedabad area in entirely underground.. Constructed by L&T
Just to add clarity – Phase 1 does, Phase 2 doesn’t.
Dear jainam the entire old ahmedabad section area was not just constructed by L&T as even afcons did underground section that also on time .
Afcons: East Ramp to Kalupur (Tunnels & 2 stations – 2.45 km
L&T: Kalupur to West Ramp (Tunnels & 2 stations – 4.38 km)

do you think the construction of phase 1 will be completed by August 2022 as some media reports say — govt wants it.
Not possible. I’m looking at a 2nd half 2023 completion right now.
Looking at the activities now, it seems like Metro will start running before 2nd half 2023.

Yes. I am unware about another projects apart from HSR (Mumbai -Ahmedabad) and Ahmedabad Metro. I read in news quite back, JICA to be funded in Gujarat. so thats why asked
