Surat Metro: RBL Begins Launching Package CS4’s Segments
Besides packages CS5 & CS6 on Line-2, precast segment launching activity has now also started on Package CS4 of Surat Metro’s 22.77 km Line-1 connecting Sarthana – Dream City.
4.15 km long Package CS4 of the 41.93 km Surat Metro Phase 1 project, under construction by Ranjit Buildcon (RBL), will connect Sarthana – North Ramp at Kapodra.
Its the shortest of the project’s four elevated civil packages and consists of 4 stations at Sarthana, Nature Park, Varaccha Chopati Garden and Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Kalakunj in the north-east part of the city.
Ranjit had won Package CS4’s contract in July 2022 after placing a bid of Rs. 384.47 crore. Their team began piling works in March 2023 between Varaccha Chopati Garden and Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Kalakunj, and went on to cast their first pier in April 2023.
In September-end, RBL completed setting up their first 46.25m long launching gantry (LG) on top of piers P1 and P2 in Sarthana weighing 135 MT. Some snaps:
Segment erection began last week. Each segment is 8.5m wide and 2.1m tall, and I estimate eventually ~1100 segments will be launched to form its viaduct.
With this development, segment launching activity is now underway at all 4 elevated packages of Phase 1: SEL – SPSCPL JV (11.6 km Package CS1), Ranjit Buildcon (4.15 km CS4), RBL – DBL JV (10.559 km CS5), and Dilip Buildcon (8.702 km CS6).
