URC Casts Indore Metro IN-03’s Final Foundation on Super Corridor

URC Construction on a subcontract from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) this week finished casting all 377 pier foundations for 33.53 km Indore Metro Phase 1 project’s Package IN-03.

10.927 km long Package IN-03 on Indore Metro’s Yellow Line connects MR10 Road – Gandhi Nagar stations primarily along Super Corridor Road. URC had completed casting all 3302 segments for its viaduct near TCS Chauraha in March 2024.

The package’s final foundation – for pier P831 – is located between Super Corridor 1 and Super Corridor 2 stations. With this milestone recorded, URC has finished casting all 142 open foundations and 235 pile caps foundations for the line’s substructure.

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL) had awarded Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) with Package IN-03’s Rs. 1034 crore contract in September 2021 with a 847 days (2.32 year) deadline. They in turn subcontracted out its construction work to URC Construction for an undisclosed amount.

Besides a 575m depot-line, URC’s scope includes constructing 9 elevated stations at Gandhi Nagar, Super Corridor 6, Super Corridor 5, Super Corridor 4, Super Corridor 3, Super Corridor 2 and Super Corridor 1, Bhawarsala Square, and MR 10 Road.

MPMRCL had started train testing (trial runs) on a 5.8 km portion of IN-03 in September 2023 between Gandhi Nagar Depot and Super Corridor-3 stations.

RVNL recently announced on X a December 2024 opening of the 16.21 km Gandhi Nagar – Vijay Nagar section comprising of packages IN-02A (built by Dilip Buildcon) & IN-03. This was a strange announcement as RVNL is MPMRCL’s contractor and not the owner of the project. Anyhow, a December opening for the entire stretch will not be possible as civil works and station architectural finishing works are still underway.

There is no way we are seeing a December 24 opening. More like april- may 25.

I am happy they didn’t open the 6km section that goes from nowhere to nowhere. Atleast people going from Vijay Nagar to airport will be able to use it when this 16 km section is opened

    Hey TMRG,

What’s the status of Gujarat Metro Thaltej to Thaltej Gam metro construction? When is that small section going to open for commercial operations?

I hear they’re aiming for a Diwali opening. It’s opening has been delayed far too long – even after being hived off into a separate package – as you likely know.
