DBL Launches Indore Metro Package IN-02A’s Final Segment

Dilip Buildcon Ltd. (DBL) on Wednesday launched their final of 1871 precast segments for constructing Indore Metro Yellow Line‘s 5.29 km Package IN-02A connecting ISBT Metro Station – Mumtaj Bag Colony Station.

This is the first civil package of the 33 km Indore Metro Phase 1 project which will form a ring line to connect Palasia – Railway Station – Rajwara – Airport – Bhawarsala via 30 stations. Construction work for IN-02A’s elevated viaduct comprising of 179 spans began in 2020.

All segments are 8.5m wide and were cast at DBL’s casting yard located along Super Corridor (view on Google Maps).

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Ltd. (MPMRCL) had awarded Dilip Buidcon with Package IN-02A’s Rs. 228.96 crore contract in October 2018. It came with a 27 month construction deadline and we’re currently 66 months in, so this package’s construction is running terribly behind schedule.

Eight stations within this section are under construction by URC Constructions (sub-contract of RVNL) at ISBT / MR 10 Flyover, Chandragupta Square, Hira Nagar, Bapat Square, Meghdoot Garden, Vijay Nagar Square, Radisson Square, and Mumtaj Bag Colony.

Back in March, DBL had launched four 36m long steel composite girders over the Western Railways’ tracks in MR-10 neighborhood.

URC Construction in March cast their final of 3302 segments for Package IN-03 (ISBT – Gandhi Nagar), so we should see them launching it in the next 2-4 months. Stay tuned!

After the terrible delay till sept 2020, This project has taken up good speed. Fortunately, it did not go the Navi Mumbai or kolkata route as you said in an earlier post when the work finally started.

Also, people may call me andhbhakt or whatever but there is a direct corelation between the party in the state government and progress of the project.

October 2018- Shivraj Singh Chauhan Government, first contract awarded

December 2018- March 2020, Kamalnath government, both bhopal and indore projects stalled.

March 2020- June 2020- Covid lockdowns

Augusy-Sept 2020 – present Shivraj and mohan yadav government, both projects on super fast track.

Infact now, I would imagine indore metro and indore in general see a lot of projects happen really fast because mohan yadav is from that region he is spending a lot of time in indore and ujjain. I also see indore- ujjain rrts be taken up immediately after MCC because ujjain kumbh 2028 is nearing and both center and state would want this project done before that.
    Is it possible? We’ll see.
