5 Bidders for Bangalore Metro Blue Line’s E&M Contract for 28 Stations
5 firms have submitted bids for electrical & mechanical contract E&M-6 of Bangalore Metro’s 57 km Blue Line after the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) opened technical bids on Thursday.
This new under construction line of Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2A (ORR Line) and Phase 2B (Airport Line) projects will connect Silkboard – KR Puram – Bengaluru International Airport through 30 stations on the Outer Ring Road and national highway NH-44.
The scope of this critical systems contract includes E&M works at 28 stations (see list for Phase 2A here & here for 2B), 2 traction substations (TSS), and at the roughly 718m cut & cover section adjacent to Yelahanka Air Force Station. E&M works at the Airport City Metro Station (also known as KIA West Station) and KIA Terminals Station will be part of a separate contract.
BMRCL had invited bids for Package E&M-6 in September 2024 with an unknown estimate which I hear might be 183 crore, and a 1.5 year completion deadline.
Bidders
- Blue Star Ltd.
- Jakson Ltd.
- Power Mech Projects Ltd.
- Toyota Tsusho India Pvt. Ltd.
- Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Ltd. (Voltas’ subsidiary)
Brief Scope: Electrical and Mechanical Works comprising of LT Panels, LT Cables, Lighting, Hydraulics, Fire Safety Systems, UPS, DG Sets, HVAC and BMS for 28 Nos. of Elevated Stations, 2 Nos. of Way side TSS and Cut-and-Cover section of BMRCL Ph-2A and 2B Project
The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
With the way things are going, at this time I see Phase 2A opening up no sooner than Q4 2026 and Phase 2B no sooner than Q3 2027. Like the Yellow Line, the Blue Line will face train-related delays since the first batch of BEML trains from rolling stock contract 5RS-DM will most likely go towards servicing Phase 2’s 21.38 km Pink Line which is in a more advanced stage of construction. The first of 53 trains from BEML’s local Bengaluru complex in CV Raman Nagar is expected to roll out in Q4 2025 – view design here.
A list of all civil and systems contractors can be viewed here for Phase 2A and here for Phase 2B.

Hi TMRG
When can we expect the final breakthrough of TBM Bhadra
After few years getting a bottle of drinking water also very difficult in bangalore.but this corru.lobby of politician and builders is making bangalalore he’ll on earth with concrete jungles
BMRCL is in total disarray, not sure whether we have the right people running it, sense should prevail, rolling stocks should have been sorted out even before the bidding of a particular line is excuted, look at the Yellow line getting rusted, then it will be the Pink line and finally Blue line, I don’t see Blue line opening up before 2028 or even 2030 haha this is laughing stock.
Cum’on, who said Blue Line would Suffer like Yellow ? The depots themselves would be ready Only by next year’s second half, by then 3/4 of the Pink trains (72/96 coaches ie 12/16 trains) would be there at Kothnur Depot. Just like how Peenya Depot got its Very First Few Green Trains in August 2012 itself, in middle of the Purple Trains being manufactured for the then existing 6-station line, we would get the first of our Blue trains for the rebuilt BYPL Depot.
