The Karnataka government’s cabinet today approved Bangalore Metro’s new 17 km elevated line connecting KR Puram with Silk Board on the Outer Ring Road at an estimated cost of Rs 4202 crores. No further details on the line’s financial split/outlay or new construction timeline have been announced at this time.
The line will be developed under Phase 2A with the hope to secure a bulk of funds (Rs 1100 – 2100 crores) from private companies and developers located adjacent to the line’s alignment. Stations: 13 at KR Puram (interchange with the Purple Line’s upcoming extension to Whitefield), Mahadevpura, DRDO Sports Complex, Doddanakundi, ISRO, Marathahalli, Kodibisanahalli, Kadubeesanahalli, Bellandur, Ibbalur, Agara Lake, HSR Layout, Silk Board (interchange with the upcoming RV Road – Bommasandra line).
Depot: Baiyappanahalli (existing Purple Line’s depot will be re-purposed)
