HCC Begins D-Wall Work for Delhi Metro’s Krishna Park Extn Station

Workers from HCC – VCCL JV and Heritage Infraspace this past week began construction work for a diaphragm wall around the Krishna Park Extension Station for a new 2.03 km underground extension of the Delhi Metro’s 38.235 km Magenta Line (Line-8) from the Vikaspuri Park Shaft to the Vikaspuri Ramp near Keshopur.

Diaphragm walls are a reinforced concrete structure cast in-situ that act as an excellent retaining solution to secure the station area. After it’s been built, workers will then begin soil excavation.

HCC-VCCL is responsible for building package DC-06 of the 61.679 km (and growing) Delhi Metro Phase 4 project which was awarded with a contract value of Rs. 489 crore in January 2020 and deadline of 36 months.

Their scope of work involves building this section’s twin tunnels from the Vikaspuri Park Shaft (co-incidentally built by HCC in a JV with Samsung in Phase 3’s package CC-34 north of Janakpuri West Station) to the Vikaspuri Ramp, with one underground station at Krishna Park Extension.

Last week, HCC-VCCL’s workers in Mundka had also started casting works for this section’s approximately 2100 tunnel ring segments.
