3 Bidders for Delhi Metro Magenta Line UG’s OHE Work
Alstom, Hitech & Siemens are the three firms have submitted tenders (bids) for the 25 kV AC OHE traction work at the 38.235 km Magenta Line’s new 2.03 km underground extension, after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) opened tenders today for Package DE-05.
This new 2.03 km underground extension (DC-06) is under construction by HCC-VCCL JV between Vikaspuri Park Shaft – Krishna Park Extension Station – Vikaspuri Ramp. Tunneling work started on January 21, 2021.
DMRC invited bids for this package and another dealing with electrical & mechanical (E&M) works (DE-03) in December 2020. Both are among 44 packages of the 65.1 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project that will be specifically funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
DMRC’s estimate is Rs. 17.67 crore and they expect the assigned contractor to finish all works within 36 months.

Brief Scope: Design, Detail Engineering, Manufacture, SITC of 25 KV AC Traction (RIGID OHE), 33KV ASS, Associated Cabling and SCADA Systems for Krishna Park Underground Station of Janakpuri west to R. K Ashram corridor (Extn. of Line-8) of Phase-IV Delhi MRTS
The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for this OHE electrification package.

Why is DMRC tendering out such small packages? 2kms OHE? why not bid out at least 15km OHE? …any logic/strategy behind such moves..
The 44 packages range from 2cr (DT-01) to 3500cr (RS-17)…
Overhead catenary systems are different between underground (rigid or ROCS) vs at-grade/elevated (flexible or FOCS).
That affects things like distribution/transmission, earthing/bonding, substation configuration etc., so I guess they’re just trying to keep things separate.
